Tronco Tambopata Adventure

We were picked up from our arrival as soon as we got there which was really convenient since we had travelled all night and were pretty tired. The food was reaaallly yummy. We had two vegans in our group who they were able to cater for and who said their food was also really great. The guides we had were really friendly and there was a good balance of activities and rest time. The groups were also quite small so it felt quite private and at times we were the only ones. We were able to see 3 different species of monkeys, a sloth, turtles, otters, toucans, among other animals. There was also a monkey that lives at the resort who loves to play. The rooms were nice, clean and they had hot water and electricity. The rooms were also serviced during the day while we were out. We really enjoyed our two-night stay and would’ve definitely loved to do the 4 day stay as well.

Very pleasant stay at Tronco Tambopata. The lodges have a rustic feel with enough luxury to make the stay very comfortable. Our guide Jersy was the best, he went to great lengths to ensure we saw as many animals as possible. The food was among the best we had in Peru. Only downside was that our boatdriver overslept so we missed the clay lick.

My experience with this tour was mixed due to poor organization and communication. The groups, with varying lengths of stay, were all managed by one guide, so there was no clear itinerary or schedule—everything was decided by the guide on the fly. On my last day, I was expecting to leave by 4pm as per my itinerary. Initially, the guide planned for a morning trip to the Tambopata River, but later decided to move it to the afternoon so he could avoid making two trips for different groups. This change meant I wouldn't return until 6pm, despite my planned 4pm departure, and no alternate activity was offered to replace the morning tour. While this issue was eventually resolved, I felt that my time was not respected, and the situation was poorly handled. The guide implied I wouldn’t have anything to do if I checked into my next hotel earlier, which wasn’t for him to decide. Communication was also an issue. The guide requested an additional $20 for a night walk, which should have been complimentary for me. Though this was sorted out, it added to the disorganization. Lastly, when we were at Tambopata Reserve, the guide made an inappropriate comment, telling me I was beautiful and that he loved me, which was uncomfortable and out of place, especially since we were alone on the lake. While I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, considering English wasn’t his first language, the entire situation was unsettling.

Our time in Tronco Tambopata belonged to the best parts of our holidays in Peru. The nature is extraordinarily beautiful, you meer great people and can relax and experience many interesting things at the same time. Jersey, our guide, had a lot to say about the surroundings and the team looked after us in a way that one felt at home while being in the jungle. We would have loved to stay longer.

We spent 4 days and 3 nights at Tronco Tambopata with our group of 6 adults and 6 children. The property was amazing. It is well laid out and well-maintained. The cabins were clean and comfortable. The food was excellent and varied, and the beer was cold. Our compliments to the chefs and managerial staff! The excursions were great. We saw so much flora and fauna in Lago Sandoval. The sunsets and sunrises off the boat were stunning. The resident monkey Macaco and the parrot Pepe kept the kids entertained. Our guide Bryan was knowledgeable, resourceful, patient, kind, and all around awesome!

My wife, kids (3 and 17), and wife spent 3 nights here and to say we had an amazing time is an understatement. The location is tucked in the jungle, so you are immersed in wildlife and the sounds of the forest. The people that work the lodge are phenomenal- from the chef, to the cleaning crew, to the front desk- all made us feel at home and made our stay unforgettable. For our excursions, Miguel was our guide. If you can request him personally- do it! He is kind, patient, and has interment knowledge of the area (to include animals and plants). Miguel was the highlight of our time in Tambopata (my 3 year old keeps askijg about him!). 10/10 recommend
