Stopping in Benevento for one night on my way travelling up Italy, I found myself in the Hotel Villa Traiano. Instantly taken with its old fashioned grandeur, I was met by some lovely staff and guided to my clean, very sizeable room that boasted a television, wardrobe, desk and decent sized bathroom, albeit the shower was a bit on the snug side. The room had various quirks that had clearly one been cutting edge such as a radio built into the wall, but personally I think stuff like that adds character, particularly given the aesthetic is mainly traditional. The location genuinely couldn’t be any better, or so it seemed. Located right on the edge of the city centre, acting as a perfect stopping point between the train station and everything you’d want to see. When travelling without car this type of detail is often overlooked. So why the doubt? And why the low score? Well to be honest this place was angling for a score between 4 and 5 out of 5, until I got in on Saturday night, and realised that my room was right above something resembling a nightclub or party venue, which played music LOUD. Truth be told I’m part intrigued by this place, which had a glass ceiling and actually looked really nice, almost wedding venue-style, but that didn’t really help me sleep. It’s a shame because this otherwise took the shine off of what was actually a really nice hotel. If that was some sort of one off party you can disregard this gripe, but if it’s a regular thing I’d be hesitant if you’re looking for a quiet night at the weekend

Das war mein zweiter Besuch in Acquapetra. Zuerst wurde ich von der Architektur, dem großen Service und den insgesamt akzeptablen Preisen für das Michelin-Sterne-Restaurant, Bar und Spa beeindruckt. Wir blieben in einem Standardzimmer, das schön, aber klein war. Dieser zweite Besuch beschloss ich, für zwei Nächte eine Suite zu gehen. Wir beginnen mit den positiven: - Das Zimmer war wunderschön. Großes Dekor, geräumig, über zwei Etagen mit einem großen Patio oben und einem schönen Balkon unten. Zwei Badezimmer. Perfekt mit sogar zwei Kindern, wenn es nötig war. Es gab einige Anzeichen von Verschleiß und Tränen leicht zu beheben (siehe Fotos), aber im Allgemeinen keine Beschwerde über das Zimmer. - Das Essen, das wir hatten, war großartig. Es gibt keine Frage, dass sie die bestmöglichen Zutaten verwenden. - Einige Mitarbeiter wurden ausgebildet, erfahren und professionell. Besonders diejenigen, die auch in La Locanda del Borgo arbeiten. Jetzt die Negativen: - Wir haben angerufen und per E-Mail den Termin der Ankunft ändern. Das Personal, mit dem wir über das Telefon und E-Mail interagiert haben, war unprofessionell und clueless. Wie kann ein Hotel, das 300€ pro Nacht pro Zimmer bezahlt, jemand antworten, der halb, nicht Englisch spricht und die grundlegenden Fähigkeiten, in der Gastfreundschaft zu arbeiten. Nicht ein toller Start! - Sobald wir das Aircon in das Zimmer angekommen war, funktionierte nicht. Ich musste zweimal anrufen und beide Male war die Person, die das Telefon antwortete, grob und unprofessionell (muss die gleiche Person oben sein). Keine Entschuldigung, keine Erklärung. Nichts! Lächerlich. Es war schließlich behebt, aber wenn es 30° draußen ist und der Aircon nicht funktioniert, Sie entschuldigen sich nicht, Sie handeln nicht irritiert mit Ihrem Kunden. - Manchmal gab es einen unbehaglichen Geruch von Abwasser im Zimmer. Natürlich verstehe ich das Resort ist entfernt und sie haben ihre eigenen Systeme. Wenn Sie 5 Sternenpreise zahlen, bieten Sie 5 Sternen Standards. - Jetzt zum Frühstücksservice. Leider wurde der Service getroffen und verpasst. Als von Personal vom Michelin Star Restaurant serviert wurde, war es auf der Stelle. Professionell und kompetent. Das andere Personal, das zu füllen verwendet hatte keinen Hinweis. Unerfahren und unprofessionell. Ich fiel für sie, als sie polit waren, aber der Standard war niedrig. Buffet-Essen war großartig, obwohl die zusätzliche Belastung für Tascheneie fühlte sich wie ein Raub, angesichts des Preises des Zimmers. - Wir hatten dort am ersten Tag Mittagessen und ich merkte, dass die Preise seit meinem letzten Besuch fast doppelt sind. 35€ für Paste in der Mitte von niemandem? Komm schon! 12€ für ein Glas lokaler Wein, wenn Restaurants außerhalb die gleiche verkaufen zu 3€? 6€ für eine Flasche Wasser? Wenn alles fehlerfrei war, würde ich die vier Saison Preise angesichts der Lage und der Subpar-Service, angesichts der meisten Zutaten sind lokale wie die Weine, warum überladen Sie Ihren Kunden? - Wir hatten am zweiten Abend ein schönes Abendessen mit hervorragendem Service, aber immer noch, 45€ für ihre eigenen lokalen Aglinico fühlte sich wie ein Diebstahl. Ich bin lokal, ich kenne lokale Preise. Doppelte Preise sind in einem Hotel unterstabil. Wenn Sie x4 gehen, ist es nur Gridness. - Obwohl ein Spritz 15 € war, der Service am Pool nicht existiert. Ist es wirklich?

This hotel is #1 in Avellino for a Reason. 1. The room is amazing. It really is a suite. The living room area is large and comfortable. The bedroom is extremely large. A King size bed. The room was extremely clean. We had a great view from the hotel. The Bathroom was large and the shower quite big with a rain shower head. The provide slippers and a bath robes. The closet in the bedroom is quite large and allows for all of your clothing 2. Location. The location is not far from the town centre but depending on how you get to the hotel - by Bus from another city (we came from Salerno) you will need a taxi to get to the hotel. To get a Taxi call the hotel and they can help as Taxis are not easy to get. 3. Domenico - the Taxi Driver. We were fortunate to have Domenico as our Taxi Driver. He is an older Gentleman. He was amazing. We used him to get us to get to a small town near Avellino (Santo Stefano del Sole). He was always on time - charge a reasonable fare. He picked us up at 6:15 when it was time to go back to the Train Station (no trains travel to Avellino). 4. Getting there. We took a long route to get to the Hotel as we were in Naples prior to leaving for Avellino. But the Hotel Desk Manager told us there is a bus that comes straight to the Hotel from Roma. As we are thinking of going to the Hotel again just for R&R - I would find out how one can get the train from Roma. Also Avellino is close to many places - Pompei, Salerno, Sorrento - just need to figure out how to get to them from the Hotel - I am sure the Hotel staff will help. 5, The staff - from the moment you arrive you are treated wonderfully. The fellow who looks after the bar area and the restaurant at night - Marco is extremely friendly - speaks great English. 6. The hotel has a nice sized heart shaped pool with a pool side canopy for eating. 7. The Hotel has an incredible restaurant. We had one of the most memorable dinners there. Marco is a gracious server and host and the food was so good. Worth going to dinner at the hotel. 8. Breakfast is ok. They have you basic breakfast - juice, croissants, coffee. 9. Simply an amazing hotel - new, modern, clean and super staff. Thank you to everyone at the Hotel de la Ville.
