This very new hotel sits up on the hill above Portree on the fab road across to Struan. We were passing by so popped in for a drink, and stayed for 3 or 4!! Fabulous bar with huge windows looking out over the wonderful view and wonderful friendly welcome and service from Zara and Paul.

We are local to Portree and visited Bracken Hide Restaurant last year for a meal. We were impressed so we decided to visit again on Sat 8th June. We knew it was under new management and the kitchen and waiting staff had changed. We were not disappointed. The reception and waiting staff were friendly and attentive and the meal wed was lovely The steaks we had could not be faulted, Done to perfection. Following our meal we sat and had a couple of drams from the well stocked whisky bar adjoining. Again the staff were pleasant and attentive.

Really disappointed. It’s a unique setup with potential but poorly run. The staff was pretty oblique, slow, kinda grumpy and uninterested. There’s no house keeping and when we asked for clean towels, they said we could walk down in the rain and get some. We stayed in the cabins and at $400+ a night the rooms are tiny tiny and there’s literally enough room for a carryon suitcase and backpack unless you stack everything against the door at night. Could have been just a bit more generous so you didn’t have to slide around each other to get to the bathroom.

I recently stayed at The Bracken Hide in Portree, and it was an exceptional experience. From our arrival, Trudi and the bar staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Trudi’s warm demeanor and attentiveness truly added a cherry on top to our stay. The bar staff also provided impeccable service, creating a delightful atmosphere. The accommodations were comfortable and well-appointed, and the hotel’s ambiance was perfect for a relaxing getaway. The entire team at Bracken Hide made our visit so enjoyable that we look forward to returning. Thank you for a memorable stay!

We enjoyed a two night stop at the Bracken Hide and were super happy with the pods! They are very well equipped and furnished and really give you the feel of camping without needing to take all your own stuff. The location is also stunning and we were blessed with fantastic weather. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was lovely but the very few members of staff that were working were literally running around trying to cater for everyone which, when it is marketed as a fine dining place, just didn't feel quite right. There were long waits for the drinks and the food which took the edge off of what could be an absolutely amazing experience. The staff, however, were fantastic under the circumstances. The Bracken Hide is a fabulous place to stay but just needs to fix a few teething problems for it to live up to its 4 star billing - I hope they will as it could be a stellar experience with just a little more TLC.

Really disappointed in what is supposed to be a 4 Star Wilderness Hotel. Much of the site looks unfinished with bare soil in many places, pots with dead plants in and rubbish thrown behind pods. On arrival we were informed that pets were not allowed even though your policy (copy below) clearly states they are and we were charged for 1 pet. You did say that on this occasion you would accommodate our pet but this left us feeling that it was our fault when actually it was yours. To top it off you also informed us that the restaurant was closed for the duration of our stay and we would have at least expected some form of prior notice so that at least we could have arranged an alternative. Overall very very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend staying certainly not at the current prices.
