We spent multiple hours scanning through hotels on Vanuatu and decided to go with Mangoes given the positive reviews about the food and our lack of willingness to move around to find a superb dinner. The accomodation is nice with a great view over the lagoon. We stayed in a room with lagoon view and private plunge pool (it was unfortunately too cold to use it). Absolutely no regrets. Rooms are spacious and the resort has all amenities you need. Some elements are a bit older but nothing too worry about, A/C and fans didn’t less us down. The resort has multiple on site pools and free access to the facilities of the neighbouring Terrace boutique hotel. All can be arranged by the hotel or you simply walk 15 minutes down to Port Vila to figure things out on your own. The Trust the Chef menu was an amazing experience with the resort doing tons of effort to make it your own private experience including setting up in a romantic setting, personalising the menu and customising any dishes to align with your favorites. The chef explains every course and did make delicious food. Definitely would recommend this experience whether you stay at the resort or not! For a long time we were in doubt about staying at Mangoes or the Irikiri resort but we are sure we made the right choice. Irikiri is remote (dependant on ferry’s), seems older and the “view” from the island was blocked by cargo and army ships and a far-beyond-any-glory Casino hotel. If you are in doubt yourself, don’t pay the 3x price and enjoy your stay at Mangoes!
