Falcon's Nest Hotel

All the team are very friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect for our stay. The restaurant had great food and the included breakfast was perfect. The room we stayed in was a little dated, but clean. My only negative feedback would be the bed, mattress and duvet really are in need of update as very worn and offered very little support or warmth. Overall a pleasant stay.

We had read the reviews and had booked prior to doing so, obviously we had reservations but need not have worried, Although undergoing renovations we were not impacted at all. The room was lovely, good decor, spacious and most of all clean. For some reason our heating didn’t work so immediately the staff went and acquired an oil filled electric radiator, it certainly did the trick. The staff were amazing and extremely friendly, food was very tasty and portions ample. Certainly a hotel for future trips to the island.

The main Falcons Nest hotel is undergoing a major renovation. However, we took one of their recently-completed self-catering apartments situated just 50 yards from the main hotel. This building, of eight apartments, has a ramped access and a good-sized lift. Our apartment was for four persons maximum (bedrooms were one double and one twin). The apartment was roomy, clean and fresh, and the kitchen has all the usual self-catering equipment. There are plenty of pubs, cafes, supermarkets and take-aways within a few minutes walk, so there was never a problem getting supplies. These apartments are less than 150 yards from the popular sandy beach, so beach and promenade are handy for a gentle evening stroll. There are also a number of good walks to be had from Port Erin, whether seaside or cliff-top. You can, for instance, do the somewhat strenuous cliff-top walk to the south and go seal-spotting off the Calf of Man some 2 miles away. The Manx Steam Railway station is very near to the apartment building, so getting a train to Castletown or Douglas is easy, and the Douglas terminus is handy for the start of the Manx Electric Railway. Road links are good, making travel to visit other attractions on the Island easy. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, whether on the phone when making the booking, or in person, and overall these apartments make an excellent base for a self-catered break.

After being let down by *********** for reasons unknown we ended up in the Falcons Nest. What a great find. Undergoing some refurbishment at the minute. A classic Manx style hotel with lovely staff and excellent food. View from the room was amazing. Really enjoyed our stay. I’ll share some photos from the bedroom window. Recommended.

Can't wait for the renovation to be finished. The scaffolding has been up for at least 6 months. Traa dy liooar? Reception and restaurant have been nicely refurbished but thats about as far as it goes. There is no lift and the stairs are fairly narrow, not ideal if you have heavy luggage. The corridor leading to the bedrooms has signs of damp and mouldy plaster. The carpet is well worn and threadbare in places. The layout is very confusing too, and the Exit signs are easy to miss. My room was clean and comfortable enough though dated. The walllights over the bed didnt work and some curtain hooks were missing (broken) . Honestly is it such a major job fixing things like this? The TV remote was faulty so it's just as well there wasn't anyone in the room next door because I couldn't adjust the volume. At least the plumbing and heating worked. The tea tray was replenished daily - I liked the biscuits. A couple of fruit teas would have been nice rather than just standard Tetley. For the price I expected better. Very limited breakfast menu though what was available was really nicely cooked. Cannot fault the staff.

Stayed on Christmas night. Reception area and breakfast area both lovely. Once entering double doors to rooms, it was like going back in time (not in a good way) An unpleasant smell in the corridors. Room SO basic. Windows blown, curtains didn't fit. Very poor quality throughout room and bathroom. We were very disappointed considering the room charge was over £100. Breakfast very good and all staff we encountered were friendly.
