Das Zimmer, die Hotelanlage mit Pool waren ok. Der Service freundlich. Die Lage ist passabel. Der Strand klein, aber ok. Die Strandliegen älter, z.T. zerrissen. Das Hotel selbst ist in die Jahre gekommen. Parkplätze sehr knapp, speziell wenn man nach dem Dunkelwerden kommt. Richtig, richtig schrecklich war das erbärmliche und z.T. unappetitliche Frühstück! Es gibt jeden Tag das gleiche langweilige Essen. Das Rührei schwimmt und wird nicht fest, der Schinken liegt unappatitlich in der Kühlung, daneben der Käse, der in der Kälte so hart wird, dass die Scheiben nicht auseinandergehen. Auf dieser Insel gibt es fantastische Früchte aber hier wird fertiger Fruchtsalat aus der Dose angeboten. Die Ananas ist schlecht geschält, hart und ohne Aroma. Es gibt keine frischen Säfte. Die Eier liegen angeschlagen und deformiert in der Kühlung. Das Baguette kann man nur getoastet essen. Die Kuchenstücke sind völlig ausgetrocknet.

Wir bekamen ein Zimmer mit einem kaputten Bett und einer kaputten Klimaanlage. Sie konnten uns am nächsten Tag in ein anderes Zimmer verlegen, waren dabei aber nicht besonders freundlich. Ich hatte besseren Service erwartet. Kein gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Der Pool ist schön.

This property is quite dated and eroding gradually and not your ideal Beach vacation spot. However, if you get the right room with a nice view you can ignore everything else. The nature elements (like the beachfront padded with cute coconut trees, private coves, and a stunning sunset) make up for the aging buildings and bump the rating of this place Was a great value for money at the price we paid. LOCATION: Lovely beachfront location DINE + DRINK: Overpriced and poorly decorated beachfront bar/restaurant that you should avoid! The breakfast restaurant was a stunner and was a breakfast to remember with mindblowing views and beach vibes ROOM: We stayed in Room 2511, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Lovely view of the ocean and the coves; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: OK cosmetics FACILITIES: No Gym on site, and a very dated and unappealing pool! SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile. But the staff at the Beachfront bar were quite annoying and didnt seem to understand what attentive or polite service meant! HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment, mostly in FRENCH language!

Als Stammgäste von 5*-Hotels waren wir nach neun Nächten im La Toubana erstaunt unter anderem: 1) Es gab im Zimmer keine Gläser, keinen Flaschenöffner, keinen Vergrößerungsspiegel, keine Personenwaage, nur einen klitzekleinen Abfalleimer, keine Badehaube, keinen Wäschetrockner,einen Warmwasserboiler mit ca. 50 l, der nach Entleeren sehr lange für eine neue ”Warmwasserfüllung” brauchte. Durch die unvorteilhafte Anbringung des Lichts im Bad, war das Gesicht beim Blick in den Spiegel im Vollschatten. 2) Der Boiler ging dann noch kaputt (was passieren kann), aber der Umgang mit unserer Schadenmeldung und die Handhabung der Reparatur waren vollkommen inakzeptabel (Einzelheiten können gerne nachgeliefert werden). 3) Obwohl wir zu Dritt waren, gab es häufig nur zwei Handtücher. Gelegentlich wurden auch (sogar halbvolle) Kaffeetassen beim Reinigen des Zimmers übersehen. 3) Das Frühstücksbuffet: Als Aufschnitt gab es lediglich Schweinefleisch; es gab nur einen Joghurtgeschmack; diverse Käsearten wurden in grob geschnittenen Stücken durcheinander auf einem schmalen Brettchen serviert; eine kleine Flasche mit H-Milch sollte für alle genügen; kein Obstsalat, aber dafür sehr große Stücke von manchmal nur zwei Obstsorten; kein Obstsaft wirkte frischgepresst; auch wenn die Tische mit schmutzigem Geschirr überfüllt waren, wurde extrem selten mal zwischendurch abgeräumt; es gab keinen Süßstoff im ganzen Restaurant. Das Schlimmste: trotz tropischer Temperaturen wurde, außer Säften, nichts gekühlt (also weder Käse noch Milch noch Aufschnitt etc.). Dies war schon gesundheitsgefährdend. Wir haben dies mehrfach vorgetragen, aber nichts geschah. 4) An mindestens vier Tagen in der Zeit zwischen 9 und 10 Uhr morgens und 17 und 18 Uhr abends war die Managerin nicht für uns zu sprechen oder angeblich überhaupt nicht im Haus. Unsere Versuche, anderen Verantwortlichen unsere Sorgen näherzubringen, scheiterten.

Das Hotel hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen. Das gilt für alle Bereiche, wie die Zimmer, den Pool-, Frühstücks-, Restaurant- und Bar-Bereich sowie insbesondere die Freundlichkeit des Personals! Wir hatten immer den Eindruck, dass die Mitarbeiter versuchen, den Gästen eine tolle Zeit zu ermöglichen.

This hotel is fabulous. It is made up of individual studio apartments comprising of bedroom, decent sized bathroom with large powerful shower. They also each have a little covered patio area with a hob, microwave, fridge and coffee maker. We stayed in superior studio number 5, which was just up the slope from reception. There are some apartments further up the hill which I suspect had a sea view but we had lovely trees and plants around us so there was plenty to look at and listen to. As others have said, some of the walkways are really steep (as is lots of Basse-Terre) so it might be worth mentioning when booking if you have mobility issues. There is WiFi throughout the hotel and in your room. The air conditioning and fan a god send! We were booked on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast had everything you wanted, hot or cold, delicious fruit juices and fresh fruit every day. There are fresh mangoes everywhere! We booked a table and ate at the restaurant a couple of times. Fairly reasonable though I did struggle with vegetarian options - there was really only one. I found this in a lot of the restaurants in Deshaies actually, which was a little disappointing and repetitive. We didn’t use the pool, but it was meticulously cleaned every morning before opening. The gardens are fabulous and again maintained very well. We saw lots of lizards, humming birds, and the cats! I’m a cat lover so it was wonderful watching the kittens playing. They do all like to beg and you are discouraged from feeding them. Grande-Anse beach is a few minutes walk away. It is quite a steep shelf so on some days there was quite a wave for playing in - just something to be wary of if you have smaller children or not a strong swimmer. Most of the time it was flat calm. There are a couple of restaurants there. There was also a little takeaway booth next to Les Hibiscus that served bokits and fries and chicken, which was handy if you just wanted a snack. Most of these were closed in the evenings. We hired a car and travelled quite a lot of both sides of the island. I would recommend this. We visited Plage de la Perle beach (where the inspector’s shack is, if you are a Death in Paradise fan) and preferred this somewhat to Grande Anse. There were a few more restaurants open, and it was less crowded so more shade! The weather was very hot and quite humid at times with a couple of really heavy downpours. This in turn brought the mosquitoes out, and my husband and I were bitten quite badly, even with the bracelets and spray! We noticed lots of others nursing nasty bites too! Possibly the time of year. Take your plug ins if you have them! We didn’t and I regretted it. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Helped to have a little French but their English was very good. They helped with our car hire and booking a boat trip. There is a young chap, unfortunately I didn’t get his name, whose English is very good - far better than my French.
