Let's start with our host Despina: what a wonderful lady! She welcomed us with open arms (literally!) and gave us a grand tour of our villa Alivia. She explained the art work, architecture, the love her and her husband had put into building these homes and it showed! To top it off, we received a big welcome package filled with treats, honey and olive oil! Then the villa itself, a home away from home. It is even better than the pictures in real life! Comfort and class combined. There were days we didn't even leave the villa as it has all that you need. Breakfast was also carefully prepared by a chef and with delicious variety every day. Location: ideally placed within a 5 min drive from Platanias beaches and restaurants. Luxury beach clubs 15min drive away. A small supermarket at walking distance and a lidl 5min drive away. Chania less than 30min drive away. Recommend hiking Rikko Gorge only 30min drive away. STUNNING! In the villa itself you can see the sunset beautifully from the terrace upstairs. Eventhough you are so close to liveliness, the villa itself is located in a quiet street so we slept like babies. We also loves the local restaurant (8min walk away) so much, we dined there 2 out of the 4 nights! I stayed with my partner and some friends for 4 nights and we wish we stayed longer. But we will surely return. Thank you Despina for your hospitality. We look back at our stay with beautiful memories.

We were six friends from Berlin visiting Crete for the first time for three days. We stayed at the amazing hospitality and genius designed villa and its incredibly passionately detailed interior, gardens, pool, reception and much more. The love and attention given to the villa and its surroundings made us feel like we were in heaven. Despina, the owner received us personally and gave us valuable tips about the area and her generosity was unmatched with a basket of local goodies of olive oil , olives. Chocolate ms, honey, tea, and other yummy goodies. She encouraged us to pick the oranges that her garden is producing in abundance and we had every morning a huge jug of literally fresh orange juice. The restaurant she recommended that was 10 minutes walk away from the villa was a hit in delicious food and fabulous service. I can write so many other things like the private chef who cooked for us with the special elegance service. And the many top rate luxuries that the house was full of. The visit made our friendship marked with delightful memories ! Thank you Despina and thank you Crete

Wonderful villa in modern architecture style. Very clean. Very helpful and friendly owner. You can tell that the owners spent their winters there. Everything in perfect condition and well thought through. Very peaceful location. Surtounded by olive groves and plenty of orange trees.

I generally don't write reviews unless the experience is extraordinary. Conte Marino blew our minds away by two aspects: 1) the fact that it is beautifully designed in every way and every detail- architects and designers will appreciate this; 2) the incredible hospitality of Despina and Nikolas is unmatched by anyone we know (we have travelled the world) The house is impeccably maintained and located minutes from Chania! The supermarket is less than 2 km away so you're set for supplies. The beach, a few cafes/restaurants and a convenience store are also less 1 km away. A tiny town square up the hill has a quaint local restaurant. Surrounded by orange trees and olive groves, it's a serene house that is perfect for relaxing and spending time with friends and family. It has a welcomed reclusive quality. You are encouraged to pick the oranges to eat or squeeze juice from. The floor plan is thoughtfully planned. The sleeping quarters is separated from the living room and kitchen by a beautiful glassed-in walkway. You can be part of the party or seclude yourself. There is a roof-top terrace off the bedroom that has views of the ocean. You have amazing connectivity with high-speed internet, amazing large screen TV and real sound system. It’s like having all the conveniences of your own house and more! The pool is wonderful for laps. The outdoor seating area is a refuge for hanging out by the pool or for drinks in the afternoons or evening. Despina is full of knowledge of the area and is always there to help or advise. Her attention to detail from luxury bed sheets, coco mattresses to dishes and you name it, is what makes the place a modern luxurious as well as a loved home away from home. Despina does this because hospitality is a passion and a way of life. After spending 2 weeks it was inevitable that we became friends. Conte Marino is part of the magic and aura that makes Crete magical. We’ll definitely come back again.
