This hotel accepted a booking then failed to actually action that booking in the advertised location. There was no intention to provide the accommodation for 3 days. That was 3/7 of the entire booking. On top of that they provided substandard alternative accommodation and repeatedly misled me. At one point even attempting to guilt trip me to feel I should be sympathetic to their incompetence with overbooking.
I was left with no alternative but to stay in the alternative accommodation on the 1st night. This caused considerable stress to deal with alternative accommodation and deal with a refund.
I am sure Trip has a very robust approach to selecting partners. On this occasion there was a monumental problem on the part of the hotel. Their reluctance to not engage with me or Trip and point blank refuse to refund the booking is beyond staggering. Trip offered some compensation amounting to approximately 20% of the booking.
