Enjoyed an overnight stay at Hayat Zaman after visiting Petra in late November. This rustic and charming property is repurposed from an old mountainside village. The main drawback for the hotel is the distance from Petra (10km from Google maps) so a car or transfer is likely needed if returning to visit Petra on multiple days. It was quiet and seemed empty except for one tour group during my visit, likely due to cancellations caused by the ongoing problems in the region. I personally had no issues and felt safe while traveling through Jordan itself. My large rustic room was well furnished with everything clean, in nice condition, and good working order. However, while the room was big, the bathroom was small in comparison. The hotel had a pool and a hammam, but I did not have the chance to use either. The dinner and breakfast buffet was substantial with a wide selection. I enjoyed local dishes mixed in with the usual Western items. Jordanian hospitality was great throughout my trip and especially during my visit to Hayat Zaman.
