My recent stay at the Royal Dunkeld Hotel was, without a doubt, one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. The room was filthy from the moment we walked in. A dirty towel from the last guest was still hanging on the shower door. The towels folded on beds in the room were filthy and seemed to haven't been properly cleaned in ages. When we requested our room be cleaned, I was told the manager checked all the rooms before turning in the keys and it was clean. The replacement towels were just as solid, yet we were told they were clean. It was appalling. To make matters worse, there was a dirty mug in the room with lipstick still on it, which hadn't been washed. The coffee maker and shower head were covered in mold, making it clear that cleanliness was not a priority at this establishment. There was no hot water for showers. When we tried to address these issues, we discovered that there was no manager on-site to speak with. The bar manager, who was extremely rude and unhelpful, sent a staff member to change out a few items, but the room was not cleaned. There was no manager on duty nor front desk staff present at check-in or check-out, which added to the frustration. Unfortunately, we had no choice but to stay as there were no other properties with available rooms that night. However, I would strongly advise anyone considering a stay here to think twice. It was a terrible experience all around, and I do not recommend staying at the Royal Dunkeld Hotel. I have been denied a refund by the manager, who was not even on site and covering for the issue by stating they checked the room themselves, so obviously the problems are from the top.
