Ruhige Lage, sehr freundliches Personal.

Fantastic holiday. Friendly receptionist. Lovely and clean new accommodation which includes black out blinds which is every parents dream! Swimming complex was amazing and all water was warm/heated. We definitely recommend this holiday. Only negatives were the beds which were unfortunately not very comfortable along with the toilets for the swimming pool being outside of the swimming complex area so it was quite cold every time the children needed a wee having to walk out of the swimming complex however this was not the end of the world! Everything else was fantastic.

Our original holiday in Le Racou was unfortunately cancelled so we decided to book a unit at Camping bois de valmarie via Lifestyle holidays. The site initially seemed slightly below par but we warmed to its unsophisticated charm during our week there. It’s quite a steep access but all plots can be easily accessed by car, parking for a bigger car is a challenge but still doable. We were very warmly welcomed by our local lifestyle holidays UK reps Lisa and Shaun who proved our initial impression that they were supportive helpful and capable of addressing any issues that might arise. We didn’t need any assistance but they regularly checked in with us that all was well with us, the unit and the local amenities. They gave us some excellent tips on what to do and where. Le Racou is small and offers limited eating opportunities but the Port of Argeles recommended by our reps offers much more choice. We walked, took in the scenery, swam and relaxed for the whole week we were there. The pool area was in our experience extremely good and we never struggled to get a sunbed in sunshine or shade and the pool bars foods and drinks were unbelievably good and of good value. The staff at the pool were invariably friendly and helpful and we appreciated seeing them ensure all who used it adhered to the same rules and standards. A difficult task but valiantly completed in our opinion. Our lifestyle unit was in a corner of the camp that saw little traffic however there was some road noise from a nearby local road which we got used to after our first night. The site also commendably adhered to the French ruling on drought and wildfire management which reassured us greatly. This is a site who takes its occupants safety seriously, the units are closely situated but within what we understand to be regulations. The shop and the restaurant attached to the site are as always more expensive but the little shop did the best it could to provide a good variety of goods of a reasonably good quality. We thought the restaurant was expensive for what it delivered but the atmosphere was good and it was a 2 minute walk away. There are some decent eateries in Le Racou but be sure to book especially over the weekend. Thank you Lis, Shaun and the pool staff for giving us such an enjoyable week.

We stayed in a eurocamp accommodation between 25/08/23-01/09/23 Il go through the experience start to finish, we flew into Perpignan airport. It is a small airport and getting through security was fast and easy. A taxi to the site cost 100€, we was told at reception this was a lot and should be more like 65€, they gave us a taxi number to call for the return journey however they quoted us 120€. Probably heard the English language and doubled the price. Onto the euro camp caravan, we booked a vista comfort, and this is where our arrival went downhill. I walked around the site and it was the tattiest, oldest caravan there. It did come equipped with everything needed to cook, pans utensils etc although the cheese grater still had cheese stuck to it and bits of sponge where someone had attempted to clean it. Beds were very hard, quite usual for a caravan, and the duvet linen did not fit the duvets. Plus side the air con worked very well. No TV, not a problem for us but there wouldn’t physically be any room to put one anyway, it was incredibly small and tight. There was a big tear in the flooring in kids bedroom that my son scratched the back of his leg on. The shower, there was mould along the silicon, and the temperature was very inconsistent. The view from the windows that did not look onto the decking was the wall/window of another caravan, they are close enough to reach out and touch the one next door, particularly the window in the toilet/shower looked into the window of the kitchen on the caravan next door. We had rain on one night which woke us up in the early hours as the caravan had a leak. Not a new leak either, the ceiling was already water damaged in the area it was leaking from, so a known problem just gone ignored. Upon complaining to the rep, we were told there were no alternative caravans in this site or any other nearby site and he said and I quote “this caravan is really passed it’s time and unfortunately you pulled the short straw of getting it” and there is nothing else he can do. The guy who came to fix the roof told us they were waiting till the end of the season to actually fix it. We don’t know if he did anything as it didn’t rain again. He had to get us a replacement sofa as the one we had got soaked in the leak. When we arrived our kids went to check the beds, in just a few moments one came running back to us with a bed slat in his hand saying it fell from the top bunk. It was only held on with duck tape. The rep who came to fix it, just taped it back on! We removed it to avoid the risk of it falling onto our son in the lower bunk. The seating area was very uncomfortable and the table legs blocked any leg room, and not enough room to move the table further out. Based on the caravan alone we would never book with eurocamp again. We checked while we were there and we could have booked direct with the campsite, got much better accommodation and at a lower price. The bikes in the bike hire on site looked pretty

We went to this beautiful mobile home site with our 10 year old son and all three of us loved it so much, we will definitely return. Yes the pool area is fantastic, but the best surprise for our football mad son was the small astro turf pitch which is perfectly situated under the shade of trees at the edge of the wood which borders this campsite. We booked a mobile towards the back of the site and our son loved to pop over to the football every morning and evening to play with his new German friends, who were all around his age. It would only fit maybe 6 kids, but they loved the size of it and the little goals built in to the walls. There are 4 pool areas and each is a different depth. Only one was out of depth for a 10 year old but it was nice for him to have that option too. The slides are built into canyons so it all looks really nice. Really nice food at the pool bar; burgers, tacos, crepes, galettes, salads etc. What we loved also was the location of Boid de Valmarie. It seems so few mobile home sites are situated right in a seaside village like this is. Le Racou is more of a hamlet but there's lots of restaurants to choose from. The restaurant that's part of the campsite is situated just outside the entrance and is really nice. Some evening they have live music on the terrace and the atmosphere is good. Being Irish we appreciated the abundance of mature trees in the campsite. It feels like this site was built in a wood and most of the trees remain, providing tree lined 'streets' with lots of privacy and dappled shade. The walk up to the pool was only a couple of minutes and you can stay closer to the pool area if you prefer. But there's more trees closer to the wood at the back of the site, so we prefer this. June was a lovely time to go - kids have lots of school holidays in June so it was great to get a holiday in before it got really hot and packed. The site felt about three quarters full in June. Very relaxing. The temperature was around 23 - 25 degrees so not too bad. It was difficult to entice our son to leave the campsite so we did less travelling than we planned but we did get the €1 bus to Collioure and enjoyed tapas and a dip in the mediteranean. We brought snorkels and loved swimming with all the fish. It's a lovely old town to stroll around with an interesting artistic history. There's also a handy ATM here and a small Casino supermarket right by the bus stop. You could get the boat here from the port, but we didn't bother. Quite expensive versus the €1 bus! Apparently there's a little electric tourist train that goes from town to town but we never saw it. We did see one in Collioure but it just goes up the hill to the fort and back again. We didn't spend much time on the beach in Le Racou but had some sunset strolls along there coming home from dinner. Stunning. The little streets between the row of restaurants and the beach are sandy and filled with flowers with crickets chirping in the evening. So nice. There's a

Well secured camping, enough activities for the kids to relax the parents, aqua park, small shop nearby. Good to park the car at bungalow, possibility to make grill is provided. Bedrooms are quite tight, but well for sleeping there. All is very clean. Cooling conditioner is working great. Territory is closed for the night hours for the car entrance.
