Hotel Paradis d'Ouvéa

Fantastic resort in the beach at Ouvea. The resort buildings are great and allows meals over looking the beach and cocktails on the beach. Food in the resort is top quality and portions are sizeable. Cocktails are great too. Some rooms are wheelchair accessible.

Stayed 3 nights here in June 23. The location photos do not do it justice. Being winter it seemed only about 50% of the rooms were occupied, which meant getting breakfast / lunch / dinner was a breeze. The beach is protected by the reef so the days we were there were picture perfect. Water temp in winter still excellent for swimming. Rooms are fine and out garden bungalow had views to beach, which was about 50 steps away to the water. There is a great pool which we did not use as the beach was our preference. The food was fine ( i see some neg reviews about that), Staff are laid back and friendly.

This is the premium resort/hotel on the island (there aren't many to choose from so it's not a high benchmark). It sits on a spectacularly beautiful beach and has large well appointed bungalow style rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful and most speak English as well as French. But mon DIeu, the restaurant. C'est tres terrible. This is my 6th visit to New Caledonia and my partner's fourth. We have travelled the full circuit of Grand Terre, visited Lifou and Ile de Pines, and never have experienced such poor food. This is an expensive resort and we were expecting much better than this. The menu is very limited. The tuna steaks were seared but somehow arrived at the table cold. The rice had obviously been microwaved and wasn't properly heated through. Then desserts.... stale profiteroles in the shape of swans and disgusting attempt at a Bombe Alaska. It was borderline inedible, but given the lack of choice it was eat it or go hungry. My partner chose the latter. We would love to return to Ouvea, but will not now that we have experienced this. We will stay on another island instead. We believe the hotel management know they have a monopoly so simply don't try. The reality is they may have a monopoly on Ouvea, but they also compete with other resorts on the other Loyalty Islands. They need to remember this

I am sorry to say it is backpackers standard for 5* Star price…. It is not fair at all - the price absolutely does not meet the quality. Beach and lagune is absolutely beautiful, staff is kind and helpful but the hotel is ruined and desperetly needs an investments and management.. I apprevciate deeply efforts but feel just cheated.

Paradise…. Yes but… We stayed at the Paradis D’Ouvéa hotel in February 2024…The island itself is an absolute paradise, a place straight out of a cliché book and an absolute postcard.. look in any direction at any time and you will get a visual overload of beauty… The hotel however is a different story… this place is one out of two hotels on the entire island and by far the better one out of the lot. It is considered luxurious however, it need a serious cash injection in order to get serious TLC and undergo some major renovations… here are some of the points that truly need some attention our room, smelled rather funky of humidity and a dire need of fresh air. There is no internet in the rooms. There is no bell desk so you bring your stuff to your room… not a big deal but it is a big property The boardwalk to access the rooms gets covered with berries from the trees above when it rains and therefore becomes incredibly slippery and treacherous (see photo) The food at the restaurant is unbelievably expensive and mediocre at best… I don’t mind paying the equivalent of USD 38 for a plate of pasta but mine was downright inedible. The hotel feels like it is dramatically understaffed and the service at the restaurant is distant and robotic. They do however make good cocktails and you need to try their infused rum (local vanilla and lemon) All in all, there were a whole bunch of problems there but we chose to overlook them for the location is so remote and the surroundings are astonishing

I have never before in my whole life seen such a beautiful beach
