This hotel is not 5star in respect to service and maintenance. Very rarely do I leave a negative review, but if this assists other families to avoid our experience it’s important. In terms of family experience, the main point to make is if you are travelling with a young child under 1, there are no facilities to assist your stay. No baby changing anywhere in the hotel, no room refrigerators (payable mini bar use only and they switch them off until you order mini bars drinks), and we had to ask a tour guide to intervene and get our travel cot delivered, over 9 hours into arrival. In terms of facilities, this hotel is in need of serious tlc. If it was 3star then you’d over look the incredibly tired and damaged areas that pop up all over the resort, but as a 5star rating they become glaring as it’s not what you expect. The shallow pool is under refurb currently so they are perhaps getting through upgrades, but the general pool and patios area has cracked paving, weathered plastic beds that are broken and general decaying furniture. The indoor pool has a hole in the light vent surrounded by mould, slime and moss which falls into the water below. The lining of the indoor pool floor is peeling and lifted and there is no cover on the pump vent leaving a hole in the floor which one day a child will put there foot in. For the 3 days we used it the water only got cloudier and cloudier so I question if it’s maintained. We don’t use the outdoor pool and slide so my only observation is they too look tired. In terms of service, it will be hit and miss whether you receive 5star treatment across the board. Bar staff were hard working and pleasant, restaurant staff over worked and so understandably just getting through service, regardless of smile. Interestingly the management staff, for us, were difficult to deal with and made you feel like a nuisance. They’re quick to take your cash (anything that feels like luxury will be payable like towels, ice cream, lounge bar drinks) but don’t seem to feel obliged to ensure you have received a quality service. There is a sense they fee above menial tasks, so a simple task such as showing us to our room efficiently took over 45mins because reception staff just wouldn’t entertain doing this themselves so insisted on waiting for I assume dedicated bellhops. We had a suite and there is basic amenities included which are on par with a Travelodge. Miniature refilled cheap shower gels, and some obscure tiny soaps. The rooms was clean and pleasant, but we happened to have a toilet cistern that continually flowed water. We complained on the second day (Laila) who done nothing with our concern other than note a room number over and over again. We paid to hire towels, lost the receipt and couldn’t convince the new reception staff that had already paid this so went without. This team are about receipt of money and zero interest in looking into genuine disputes. I’ve never know a 5star hotel need to charge for its towels!? All
