Our planned stay in Ghent was cancelled and we needed a good hotel at short notice nearby. Opposite a magnificent cathedral is one of the best boutique hotels in Europe, the Steenhuyse. My wife and I are crusty travelers, venturing from home in Estonia, all over Europe. Why such a blushing review? 1) the rooms are bargain priced but are stunning, exciting, plush and exuding luxury. 2) the staff are attentive, intelligent and hard working, 3) the restaurant is worthy of at least a single Michelin star - seriously! 4) the wine list is short, but stunningly constructed and all the best wines are a bargain vs London, Paris or Tallinn. 5) breakfast is FRESH everything. But most of all, the Proprietor/Chef is a warm, hospitable, understated genius. Well behaved dogs are warmly welcomed, and he even prepared chicken stock dinner for our canine. WOW! This hotel is absolutely fantastic. Centrally located in Oudenaarde, you are only 25 minutes away from Ghent by train. The room I had had a fantastic interior with open-spaces and a finely selected combination of contemporary and classic furniture. The building, which has a long standing history, has been entirely renovated. Bed was extra large and super comfy, the selection of soaps and cosmetic offered was top notch quality. The owner of this business is experienced, welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. Breakfast is typically Flemish. If you are goin to Oudenaarde, for leisure or business, for me there’s no other choice.

Resto located in a beautiful and stylish renovated historical house. The dining room is classy and has a limited number of tables and guarantees quiet dinner time. Delicious choices on the menu, our compliments to the chef. Attentive host taking care of smooth ordering and service.

We had a fantastic stay in this beautiful hotel, with great rooms, kind and gentle service, and excellent meals! Perfect location in the center of the town, close to all the main attractions and we could leave our bikes in the cellar.

Wij werden met Oudejaar bediend met uitmuntende diner. Af tot in de puntjes. Leuk en attent personeel. Aanrader voor iedere fijnproever die houdt eerlijke gastronomie met de juiste ingrediënten. Kamers en bedden zijn top! Wij gaan zeker terug.

Notre chambre, située en façade avant de l'hôtel offrait une vue magnifique sur la collégiale, la grand-place avec son marché de Noël superbement décoré et, en arrière-plan, l'hôtel de ville. Nous pouvions profiter de cette vue tant depuis le lit que depuis la baignoire. Le temps est ponctué par les cloches de la collégiale. Nous croyions être au moyen âge. La literie était parfaite et très confortable, le décor de bon goût. Le petit déjeuner était copieux et délicieux, les viennoiseries succulentes. Et enfin, nous nous sommes régalés avec le savoureux menu de Noël et les vins assortis. Nous recommandons vivement cet établissement.

Wij zijn heel vriendelijk ontvangen. De kamer was ruim en gezellig met een groot bed waarin wij lekker geslapen hebben. 's Morgens kregen wij een uitgebreid ontbijt. Het restaurant is een aanrader voor zijn prijs. Het arrangement is zeer schappelijk geprijsd.
