Mountain Valley Oludeniz

I don't know when I last reviewed Mountain Valley, but I must have done. I have been visiting for 14 years with my family, and it never fails to make us happy to stay. I have been in May - June - July - August - September - October over the - years. MV is close to Hisaronu, and a quick dolmus or taxi to OluDeniz beach and the lagoon (even a free transfer if booked to Sugar Beach, which is on the opposite side to the tourist trap) and a bit further afield to Fethiye (port / marina / working town, lovely old town for eating and shopping) . It is easy distance to the amazing cable car up the Babadag mountain, which from the top has one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen in my life. MV is a quiet and peaceful oasis away from the hubbub of the town. It overlooks Babadag mountain, it takes 10 minutes to walk to Hisaronu downhill, a little longer uphill! The pools is big, restaurant for lunches and dinner great (and great value), bar staff really attentive and it is owned with care by a lovely family. What is even nicer, is that over the years I have met so many returning guests, which is lovely for me to say hello to old friends, but importantly a testament to how lovely this little oasis is and how people go back again and again, and again!

The outside space is lovely here, but the room we had massively let this place down. We had a downstairs room that is desperately in need of a refurb and the pillows were huge like boulders, that made them impossible to sleep on. Because of the rooms being so old and uncomfortable I won't be back, but the hotel itself has so much potential if money were to be spent on it, and if that happened I would def book again. I'm sure for a budget hotel this would suffice many, but it wasn't suitable for me. The food was average (the kitchen the food is prepared in looked very clean) the cocktails were decent 😋 and the pool was a great size. The hotel was empty. Only a couple of ppl around the pool/in the bar. It appears that this is a budget base and for that you cannot complain, I just didn't like that the bathroom was so small, the toilet was virtually in the shower (no joke) there was no room to bend over to dry your feet it was that small. The kitchenette wasn't somewhere I'd prepare food and it was in need of an overhaul. The downstairs room was so dark and dingy it was depressing.

We arrived in the evening and entered tropical lush gardens and were welcomed by Adem and staff. It was the perfect welcome for two old codgers shattered by the flight and just needing to lay down. They put us in our room and left us with cases to unpack and rest and recuperate and the laid back caring vibe began. Our room was number 4 apartment up a few steps and was spacious with a comfy bed and clean facilities. We know it was a little tired in decor but we didn't mind a jot as it had hot water, kettle and two balconies and in the morning we woke to brilliant sun and the most spectacular views of Mount Babadag all around us. The front and larger balcony overlooked the pool and it was the cleanest pool with an early morning pool man who cleaned and preened it every single day to perfection. It was cold but with the hot sun once in a perfect swim. There was also a jacuzzi on another level and a baby pool. The balcony off our bedroom was smaller but perfect for drying washing with full sun at the end of the day and there was flowering bougainvillea and an array of wonderful plants all cascading to one side of the balcoy and our morning mountain view from our beds. The chilling out had begun. We had a small TV which one of the boys fixed for us but there was a big screen in the bar and restaurant area where we were able to watch all sports. The food was lovely and our waiters and staff were amenable and helpful. The menu had a great choice of both turkish and english and european dishes which would suit most people. The wine was good. Kavak white for me and Dikmen red for him. Both delicious. Getting around was easy. They called a taxi for us or you could press a taxi button and the cabs were very reasonable. Under ten minutes to Olu Deniz where all the action was and if you needed a walk there were two shops under five minutes walk away, a supermarket and an off licence. Thank you for the best holiday to all the lovely staff.

I must firstly say that we are not staying here so I can't comment on the rooms. We are staying in the villa opposite. We have been in for breakfast twice as we hadn't brought anything for the mornings. The service and food are first class. There are five of us including my four year old girl, and we we're all catered for. Really couldn't do enough for us. I highly recommend this place.
