Olden Fjordhotel

Brilliant hotel with great location. Excellent breakfast and dinner service and professional and kind hosts and hostesses. Good local beer in the bar. The view over the Nordfjord from the restaurant is very picturesque. All rooms have fjord view, comfortable beds and great amenities.

We had a pleasant stay at Oden Fijord hotel last may . The manger and all the staff are vey nice The room is spacious and has a balcony overlooking the fiord ,the view is amazing The restaurante has glass walls which also enables the view , we had dinner twice , dinner and breakfast very good

We had a wonderful stay at the Olden Fjordhotel. We were greeted warmly by the general manager who gave us a lovely room on the 4th floor. Most rooms have a balcony overlooking the fjord which was wonderful. The balcony has chairs and a table so you can sit and gaze at the beautiful view. The best part of staying at the hotel was the amazing dinner. Most of the food is locally sourced and they have quite a variety… salads, fish, fruit, cheese, meat, chicken, and a very, very tasty fish soup! Breakfast the next day was also very good. The service at the restaurant was terrific. The wait staff are friendly and work very hard. Olden is a great place to see the many glaciers in the area. We are so glad we stayed there and will definitely go back!

We visited Olden Fjordhotell late July, and chose this hotel because of the scenery. After reading some of these reviews, we were not expecting much, but oh what a pleasant surprise! Although busy, we were greeted by the most helpful and friendly receptionist. The hotel manager welcomed us too, in the most personal and friendly way. The reception area is well kept and traditional, which we felt was completely right for this timeless, beautiful place between mountains. Our rooms were clean and well equipped, with a balcony facing the fjord. Stunningly beautiful! In the evening, we enjoyed a varied and good buffé, which would please both fish-, meat- and vegetable lovers. Breakfast too was very good, staff attentive and friendly. We highly recommend this place. Whatever made some people rate this place low should not prevent you from giving it a go.

Liked · The location suited our itenerary. Disliked · We felt unwelcome the moment we entered this Hotel. Check-in was done by a dour and hostile old lady, while the Manager and the other receptionist fell over themselves to welcome and facilitate another couple who were asking questions, unrelated to their stay, which any normal person would have sought answers for themselves on the internet. On reaching our room, which was adjacent to the lift well we found the pipes making loud noises and the flag which was just outside our balcony flapping loudly in the wind. After waiting for half an hour, in the hope that at least the pipes would quieten, I called reception to apprise them of the situation. I was spoken to very rudely, by the same lady who had ungreeted us. Shortly thereafter the Manager, I think he was a Mr.Roon came to our room, he solved the pipe problem, it was air in the radiator, not something that I would have known as we do not have heating in our part of the world. As for the flag, he said it would be taken down later in the evening, I mentioned to him the coldness of our check-in and the rudeness over the phone, he apologised but went on to sell us on the dinner buffet. We would have had the buffet, but after being treated in the way which we had, after paying more than fair price for the room, we were definetely not giving them our custom. Olden has other eateries so this was not a problem. The room has no tea/coffee making facility. In the evening the Manager did offer us a complimentary cup of coffee, which he served himself, saying he does not know how such things are done, as he is the Manager, I wondered to myself that had the man never served anyone a coffee in his home. In any case this episode too made us uncomfortable. The breakfast next morning was fine, we were there early and the breakfast room has nice vies over the fiord, but the tables at the window were 'Reserved', not that anyone came to sit at them while we had breakfast. All in all this Hotel definetely has issues with equality.

Hotel antiguo con bonitas vistas a un fiordo. No obstante se menciona que es un hotel de playa y hay que cruzar una carretera. Los baños de las habitaciones tenían mal olor pero las duchas eran correctas. Las camas buenas y cómodas. El buffet, pagado aparte, demasiado caro en relación a lo que se ofrecía. El desayuno correcto pero un tanto limitado también.
