Unique - Resort and Spa

We visited for a week with TUI at the end of August, start of September. We had stayed at the same time the previous year. We had not paid for an upgrade but should have done as whilst the room was again huge, there was no balcony which we definitely missed. There have been a couple of improvements in the year since our last visit. The breakfast has more choices and is better for it. The pool area was much nicer with better beds and umbrellas and somebody taking responsibility for keeping the area clean and we'll tended. Unfortunately whilst on holiday I contracted a virus and was ill. The TUI rep, Olivier, helpfully arranged for an English speaking doctor to visit the hotel and provide medication. So well done Olivier! As many others have remarked, the hotel is really nice and comfortable. Ohrid itself is a short walk away and is fantastic. Food and drink is exceptional value. The views are amazing. A brilliant place to visit.

Lovely clean hotel. Huge rooms and very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast buffet. We had half board which was nice but not extensive. Was fine for us as we are not fussy eaters and have no dietary issues. Would not give vegetarians much choice. There was an al a carte menu, but we didn't look at it so cannot comment. Only negative in our opinion was the tiny balcony, which compared to the enormous size of the room, was totally out of proportion and just big enough for two chairs and a small table. I've had bigger balconies on cruise ships!

We were very fortunate to arrive at the Unique Resort and Spa mid afternoon, but without our luggage, after the Manchester Airport electrical failure which caused the cancellation of many flights. The hotel was very clean and the room was spacious and modern with excellent air conditioning when needed. We stayed half board with the intention of eating out some evenings but found that the buffet in the hotel was really good quality with a varied choice of a four course meal every evening and so we ate there each night. The staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. The pool was clean but chilly until you became used to the temperature, and the sun loungers were very comfortable. The spa facilities were excellent with a choice of two saunas, jacuzzi, cold plunge pool, steam room and tempidarium all kept very clean by the staff. I had a massage which was also very good value. Regarding the building work – it was ongoing and there was some noise from construction. We spent half days at the pool depending upon our plans for the day and during that time although noise could be heard, we didn’t feel that it was of any great annoyance. Our luggage arrived two days later, after valiant efforts by TUI to reunite thousands of travellers with their bags and the provision of a necessities payment enabling us to buy toiletries and clothing. A special mention to Olivier the TUI rep at the hotel who was very helpful in keeping us updated on the situation. Despite the initial setback to the holiday, we had a wonderful time, thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and our time in Ohrid and found Macedonia a beautiful country to visit. We would definitely recommend the Unique Resort and Spa.

Well we were a little worried when we saw some reviews but have to say we couldn't fault it and is in the top 3 hotels we've ever stayed. Just booked to go back next year. We love macedonia 🇲🇰 The hotel breakfast had plenty of choice for everyone .

Just returned from a 3 night break to this hotel. Rooms are huge with great views of the lake. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choices. Staff were friendly and helpful. Short walk to the lake and about 15 minute walk to the old town. Peaceful location but close to lots of bars, shops and restaurants. Lovely outdoor pool with comfortable loungers. Would definitely return.

We were with a tour so we had no choice but even our tour guide said he didn’t like this hotel (the worst in our 14 days trip in the neighbouring countries)…. Our Room door doesn’t lock at night . Had to ask a repair guy to come up to fix the safe which was not functioning at first. No bottled water. Tea and coffee packs not replenished. .. Spa very dirty with previous users’ underwear hanging everywhere. One sauna was out of order and nobody tried to fix it. Spa staff was very polite though. Breakfast was so so but the manager was funny and friendly. Just stayed for the convenient location (two min walking away from the popular lakeside where other hotels I heard are noisy till after midnight with people partying on the lakeside.
