After reading the bad reviews, I was skeptical and worried about staying here. However, I am honestly so happy we stayed at Hotel Flavia. My boyfriend and I are world travelers, so we’ve seen and experienced a lot (good, bad, pretty, and ugly). We both feel grateful to all the staff. When I say all, I am referring to the security, housekeeper, cleaning staff, manager, and servers (everyone). Thank you all for making our experience unforgettable! Rafael, who runs the hotel, was increíble. We are in awe of his knowledge of the property, architecture, design, and art. He made us feel at home and made sure we were taken care of. If we had questions or needed help, he always found a solution. All the staff is in syne, and if someone has a question and doesn’t know that “specific job/answer,” it does not matter. They will help you and find the person who can help you further. They won’t tell you, “No, sorry, or I don’t know.” They helped you! I loved that! What I love about Rafael is that he wears different hats. He sees something that needs to be done, and he does it, from running the hotel to helping carry luggage. He has excellent management skills and the charisma to excel as a leader. I do logistics, operations, and production, so I notice everything. I was impressed! Sebastian, our waiter, was attentive, very knowledgeable about the menu, had great food recommendations, and made all of our dining experiences fun and stress-free. I highly recommend Hotel Flavia. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. The food is excellent, and the experience will be unforgettable. Thank you to everyone at Hotel Flavia for making us feel spoiled, safe, and taken care of. - Brenda Barbosa

Just about the most amazing hotel that we have ever stayed at. An architectural marvel. Every room is a different magical experience. You will find yourself surrounded by the most stunning art, beautiful furniture, gorgeous bathrooms, the most comfortable bed, great service and food. Perfection! The view over the town is stunning - at night, while dining, you overlook a sea of sparkling diamonds. Go. Stay! Please note the hotel is a 15min taxi ride (less than ten dollars) from the city center. It's heaven!

We ate at their Cruz restaurante for the second time; it was near perfect, for drinks and food. But, the hamburger was TOO salty to eat, and the appetizer arrived after the main course arrived. Drinks and service were fantastic.

This hotel could be amazing but the service seriously lets it down. The building is incredible - super stylish, beautiful rooms and the view from the restaurant is second to none. The food is also delicious. We ate at the restaurant a few times and everything we had was excellent. The service from the hotel staff and bar/ restaurant staff is however really really bad. In the bar/restaurant - the staff just hang around and never come over to ask you if you want drinks. You have to go up to them to get them. It was quiet when we stayed at the hotel and we were often the only people in the restaurant but still they didn’t pay attention. Usually there were 3/4 members of staff in the restaurant for only a few people but they just hang around on their phones, laughing with each other and not doing anything. When we checked in the person at the desk didn’t tell us any of the info that we needed to know like check out time, breakfast timings etc. it really felt like she couldn’t be bothered. There isn’t access to enough free drinking water. The cleaners do not replenish it every day. We were often thirsty. Staff do not speak any English at all. My husband and I can speak some Spanish so we got by but the restaurant staff so not speak a word of English and also don’t really try to understand you. They just shrug their shoulders. There is an English menu for the restaurant but they didn’t even know the names of their own dishes in English. I would recommend coming here for a short stay or dinner as the view is really incredible but don’t expect much from the hotel staff

This hotel is an event space first, a bar second, a restaurant third, and a hotel last. They do not care at all about those staying at the hotel. We stayed 5 nights, Fri - Wed. We received an email a week before that there would be an event on Saturday, apologizing for the noise. We said that was fine if it was just one night. Staying here is like trying to sleep in the bathroom of a club. Music blasted beyond midnight Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. We had a 12 hour tour on Monday morning so you can imagine how much that ******. The ceilings are wood and glass and they put the restaurant tables and chairs on top of the glass, so you will hear every table seating, every foot tap, every customer leaving and the staff cleaning up. There is zero noise cancellation, and the music is electronic/EDM that booms through your entire room. Earplugs aren't even a possibility - the music pervades everything. We requested a partial refund for being misled about the event but were told every day that they hadn't heard back from the manager. The last day, we still had radio silence, so we emailed the staff our concerns when we checked out. They ghosted us. Additional lowlights of staying at this hotel: *We had roaches in our room *We had a leaky ceiling that dripped pool water *It's ~18 minutes from town, and you have to wait ~15-20 minutes for a taxi anytime you want to leave. Also we had 2 taxi drivers rip us off by claiming we owed more than what we knew the flat rate was, and the security guard at the hotel just shrugged his shoulders and claimed he didn't know how much taxis cost. Thanks for that...

I am writing this review because my son and his wife were to upset to follow through. It looked good and has prominent ads at the airport but is poorly designed. They made the reservation before the hotel had any guests or reviews. Rooms were poorly designed, one without any shelves, drawers or luggage racks, one with no ventilation. But worst was an unlighted hallway with no railings to a set of steps. A member of the party fell in the very dark hall, thinking it was straight to the hot tub. Result: a ruptured quadricep. The staff drove them to the hospital and paid for initial treatment. but that was it. They returned back to states for surgery. Flavia did not comp the stay or refund the remaining pre-paid room costs.

Flavia Luxury is at most a 3 star property. The location is not ideal - There is literally nothing to do around the hotel. The area is also full of dogs barking and howling at night. Our room had no windows but was also not sound proof. The rooms are located right above / or below the bar / restaurant. At night - you will have loud music and bass that reverberate in your bedroom until the early hours. We were told that the music was only for New Year’s Eve - but we had it on more than just New Year’s Eve for sure. We used ear plugs but that didn’t help much - the vibrations in the room were intense. Food was sub par. Their New Year’s Eve dinner was the most expensive dinner we had in Mexico and yet we had to return their main course - chicken with sliced potatoes with some cheese on top ( pic attached). It had been reheated in the microwave and looked like it came out of a school canteen. The chicken was so dry that we had to eat it while sipping water. The chef and waiters didn’t seem bothered that we only had a small bite and left almost all of it. Also note that their breakfast starts at 8 am.. so if you need to have breakfast early - forget it. One morning , they only had oats and eggs…ie no bread / pastry nothing. You can’t really complain much here either, because 90pct of the staff can’t speak English. It becomes so tiring that it’s easier to simply put up with the low standards and forget that you are paying to stay here. All in all - this is a hotel that has a very nice view but very little of anything else . You are better off booking other hotels closer to town. They will be nicer overall, with better service and probably cheaper too.

Total disaster. No window, but door curtain was see through. After asking multiple times, at midnight, staff tried to fix but it ended up looking like an entrance to a flop house. Staff was nice enough but confused on every level. Our room was tiny and bathroom was tinier. Manager was a no show after many requests to see him. Light was coming from the restaurant above us through one of those glass floor bricks. No easy access from hotel so call a cab way ahead of time. Continental breakfast was supposed to be included but we were charged. Very disappointed.

Disappointment is a function of expectation. The pictures online and the prices indicated to us that this was going to be a five-star experience. It was anything but. We traveled as three couples. Our friends, who stayed on the lowest level, had a door with a see-through screen. Meaning you could see everything going on inside the room through the screen. There was also a skylight. It was opaque but located directly on the floor of the restaurant above. Meaning they had to cover it with a rug in order to block the light at night. This is good news because the rug in the room nearly killed our friend (no rug pad). So staff rolled it up, took it upstairs, and covered the skylight with it. No one seemed to know how to address the see-through door issue. A cardboard box and some duct tape, maybe? I should note that there were no windows in this room. Not fun. The second couple had probably the best room. It was on the second floor, and though it was tiny, it did have an operable window. And you can see the city below. They, however, did not have running water on the night of our last stay. This was remedied creatively by the staff, who hustled up a 5-gallon jug of water with a hand pump. As for my wife and I, we stayed in a room called Teatro. This room also had no windows. And while it was the largest of the three, did not have a fan or air conditioning to provide ventilation, and as a consequence, was very warm. The staff solution was a portable fan, which, even on the lightest setting, produced a sound akin to a small single-engine aircraft. We also ran out of water on our last night. We also noticed that there was very little in the way of storage. There are no stands for your suitcases, and the closet is tiny with no shelves. There's a giant bathtub in this room located directly below an enormous skylight. There was an automatic curtain that could be drawn around the entire tub to block out the sun in the morning, but that curtain didn't really fit, and the light leak was pretty terrible. Likewise, the light that comes around the doorway at night is reflected in the corner mirror in a way that shoots streams of light across the room, making it difficult to tune out, even when your eyes are shut. The drinks in the bar were fine generally. But there are odd design choices here as well. There is a pool table in the bar, it sits within 1 foot of the adjacent dining table. Making it impossible to play while people are seated. At night, half the pool table is in darkness, as there's no direct lighting above it. There's a swimming pool located close to the restaurant--like if you drop the salt shaker, it's going in the pool close. So, if you're going to swim, you're gonna be on display. The food in the restaurant is forgettable. I had some Chillaquiles that were soulless. Our friends ordered a Barada appetizer. But it didn't come with any bread. When they asked for bread, they were told it could take 15 minutes. Then when the bread showed up it was
