GGuest UserOur stay at this hotel worked out great! Our family planned a week in Bora Bora. We decided to split our stay, staying two days at a medium priced hotel on the main island, and then splurging on over water bungalows at the high priced resorts. For our first two days, after much research, we chose the Royal Bora Bora for our two days on the main island. And I’m glad we did. We arrived at the Bora Bora airport at 8:00 am. There is the free taxi boat for the 15 minute ride to Vaitape. It’s a wonderful ride. Beautiful. Really gets you in the mood for your stay. As soon as we landed at Vaitape, there was the van driver waiting for us. It’s a 10 minute drive to the Royal Bora Bora. Upon arrival, they great you warmly. There is the open air registration lobby, with a concierge that can book all activities available on the island. The lobby opens up to a very nice pool and really nice private beach. On the beach is their bar/restaurant. They rooms are across the street. But the street is actually a small country like road that is not busy. The complex with the rooms is very nice. Rooms surround a tropical garden with beautiful well maintained grounds. It’s literally less than 2 minutes to walk from your room to the beach. We arrived at around 9:30 am. The rooms aren’t ready until 2:00 pm. But they check you in immediate, and they store your luggage for you. There is a dressing room with shower, allowing you to change into your beach wear/swim suits and begin enjoying their pool/private beach immediately. You can also right away start charging drinks/food to your room. When our rooms were ready at 2:00 pm, we were very happy with the rooms. Very clean. Every things seems new and updated. Excellent shower, very comfortable beds, in room safe, refrigerator. All the rooms have a private porch which open up to the tropical garden. What is really nice is that there is a small, really nice market just one block away. This market has everything. Drinks, beer, alcohol, food, snacks, sunscreen, bug repellent, all toiletries. Having this market so close is great. On one of our days, we did the 15 minute walk to the public beach, which is a really nice beach. The hotel’s restaurant has a complimentary breakfast buffet, allowing you to have breakfast right on the beach during sunrise. At night, it serves dinner. Honestly, the dinner food was hit and miss. Some items were really good, some items were so so. The restaurant staff were very nice. Spending part of our Bora Bora stay on the main island gave us a chance to go to different restaurants, meet locals, go on snorkeling tour. After our stay at the Royal Bora Bora, we then moved to one of the 5-star resorts for our 3 days of staying in over water bungalows. Splitting our stay really worked out better than we could have ever planned for. I would strongly recommend this plan for those visiting Bora Bora. But if you’re on a budget, then staying at the Royal Bora Bora for your entire stay would also be an option that
