Apartments on Chapman

I stayed at Chapman Serviced Apartments recently and had a great experience. The apartment was clean, roomy, and had everything I needed — a kitchen, laundry, and a comfy bed. Felt more like a home than a hotel. The location is spot on if you need to be near Royal Melbourne Hospital. Plus, the tram into the city is just around the corner. The street is nice and quiet too, which was a big plus after busy days. Adam, the owner, was really helpful and easy to talk to. Sierra at reception was friendly and made check-in easy. Also, I got a better deal by booking over the phone instead of online — definitely worth trying. All in all, a solid place to stay with good value. I’d stay here again next time I’m in Melbourne.

My friend is a new organ transplant recipient. She booked this apartment for her post op stay requiring her to be close to the hospital for some weeks. As a recipient she informed the venue of her reason for stay and that she would be seriously immunocompromised during her time , she was reasurredbthis is a commonplace for them and they knew how to accommodate for it. What we were confronted with was nothing less than neglect of any decent standard of hygiene but also a blatant ignorance of any covid regulations. On arrival the receptionist told us we could remove out masks, we declined and explained why. Once in the apartment we were horrified at the filth. I ventured to find someone but they had closed reception for the day. While the linen was clean, the room appeared as if it had not seen a dusting, a mop or vacuum in weeks. The photos attached are evidence enough, all taken within minutes of our arrival. The toilet had been used and not cleaned both the bowl and under the lid. I'm a critical care nurse of many years I know what dried faeces looks like. The bathroom light/fan had layers of dust visible. Being immunocompromised I instructed my friend not to turn the fan nor to use the shower for fear the dust would become mobile. The kitchen was filthy with food particles on the cutlery, the kitchen tiles were sticky, we wore light shoes the whole time for this reason. The scum on glass and other hard surfaces are not easily identified in photos..the shower door, the washing machine door, the hard floor, the kitchen plates. We Dettol wiped small spaces to enable eating from our kitchen paper towels. I could go on but we found another place the next day, moved out and this chapman apartments had the gall to charge for two nights because we left at 12md after check out time. The receptionist cried and deflected her guilt feelings to my friend on checkout, and then told her she was told the room may not be cleaned before check in.. this was not true. I can't imagine checking in to accomodation that had not been been cleaned in preparation for occupancy. I'll now let the photographs speak for themselves. This establishment should be shut down by health authorities. I will also be reporting to Covid watch.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. They let us leave our car there so we didn't have to pay for parking at the hospital after we checked out. Beds and pillows were nice and comfortable. Suited us for a short stay to be near the RCH for our sons procedure.

The apartment is well situated and met all of our requirements. Super comfy bed and off street parking. Great little kitchenette and lift was very useful. The staff are amazing and went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.

On first contact to make a booking, Lorraine was so helpful and kind. While we stayed there, we had a medical issue, and the staff were very kind and helpful in giving us the information we need to get the right help and even offered to drive us to the doctors. Could not ask for more. Each and every staff member were amazing. We will be back to stay again soon. The apartment was clean, well equipped and the bed was so comfortable. The first room we were allocated was a 1 bedroom, as no double rooms were available. The room was dirty and it didn't look like it had been cleaned since the previous occupant left or the previous occupant before them ! The carpet was stained, the bathroom not cleaned, hair in the shower, leftover soap. Before I put my toiletries in the bathroom cabinet I had to wipe it clean. Toilet paper handle came off as soon as we used it. Couch had a large amount of crumbs in between the cushions. Everything was sticky and grimy. The only good thing I can say is the sheets were clean and the beds comfortable. The next night we were given a 2 bedroom apartment. It was cleaner, but still not that clean. None of the bulbs in the bedside lamps worked. The bathroom floor had not been cleaned, there was a large amount of dust in between the washing machine and shower. The sink was tiny and the water took a long time to go down. Again when using the toilet paper the toilet paper holder came apart. I would advise anyone who stays here to wear slippers as I'm guessing the carpets having been cleaned for a very long time. When we checked out we were told that we were charged less for the 1 bedroom which we were expecting but when we got the invoice we found out we weren't! This hotel is in a good location and had everything there but it was badly maintained.
