The worst hotel experience in our traveling lives. I feel compelled to warn people about reservations with Extended Stay America. We made our reservation via Extended Stay America online system at least 3 weeks in advance. We were 3 hours out from the hotel when we got a call from the hotel. The manager said "We have no room for you. You have to cancel this reservation and find another place to stay". We were shocked at her abruptness and unwillingness to listen when we said we had a confirmation letter. They sent us to another Extended Stay in N Charleston. Just for the record, there are 3 in Charleston. We arrived at the one they sent us to. We had the email they sent us with a confirmation number. We were greeted at check in and promptly told they had no reservation for us. No room for us. This manager was at least helpful. She contacted the 3rd Extended Stay and was able to secure a room for us. It was only 2 blocks (or less) from her hotel. She said it was the Corporate Hotel for Extended Stay. We checked in and went to our room. Well, there are no dishes, no coffee maker, nothing that you would expect in an Extended Stay facility. We asked for the stuff to be delivered to the room. They did. However, the cups were chipped, the glasses were cracked, the silverware was horrible and the worst thing it was a tiny coffee maker... no filters, no coffee. Off we went to the Dollar Tree to purchase the things that should have been in the room. Like dish detergent, towel for drying dishes, sponge for washing them. I think you get the idea here. We had scheduled a 4 night/5 day stay. Also, in the kitchen there was no oven, just a disgustingly filthy stop top. It looked older than I am (73). I spilled some water on the floor and wiped it up only to have the cleaning cloth turn black from the floor. I have these same floors at home. They are vinyl and don't appear to have been washed for months and months. They look ok when you first walk in but you soon begin to notice they are not clean. Needless to say, we checked out after 2 nights. There were 2 compelling reasons for doing this and they are the primary reason for writing this review. Please, read these reasons and think long and hard before you book with them. Reason #1: Lack of instant relief from the reservation issues. You should be able to rely on your confirmation and not be sent all over the place just to get a room. Without the help of the second manager we would not have gotten a room and would have headed back home. The first manager that called us in the car enroute was so rude and actually hung up on us. She delivered her message and disconnected the call. Great customer service huh? No help coming from her. Reason #2: This is far and away the most important information you need to pay attention to. As stated above, we had a confirmation from HQ 3 weeks prior to our reservation. Didn't matter. We were quoted a price for the room. Didn't matter, The actual
