Killeavy Castle Estate

We had lunch in Killeavy castle bar today .. so disappointing!! On arrival to bar with my family 4 of us .. we were told we could have table for 45 minutes agreeing to same sat .. got menus and had to call to place order after waiting 15 minutes for attention .. our food was not good .. I had sausage and mash with hard uncooked cabbage, my elderly father had burger no onions to flavour and a few hard cold chips really poor presentation.. after finishing this meal tried to get attention as we had limited time eventually had to get up to ask for service for dessert .. now didn’t expect this to be as bad but apple crumble served very small portions of a custard , very poor .. had Irish coffees in tiny glasses with no whiskey taste these were nearly £10 each .. our meal cost over £100 for 4 there was extra tax added to meal??? Will not be returning so dissatisfied with the choice, presentation and taste of food !

From the moment we stepped into the hotel we felt very welcome. Our room was beautiful so bright, clean with a lovely view. There was a birthday plate for my husband with chocolate cake & fruit, a lovely torch. We walked around the grounds and the castle, the sun was shining, beautiful. We had a drink in the bistro bar about 3.30 with dinner booked at 6.30. Ended up staying there and had dinner early as the smell of the food made us hungry. Our meal was excellent and staff very attentive. Great night's sleep and a delicious breakfast. All in all a perfect birthday celebration at a lovely hotel.

This hotel is such a treat. From check in to checkout it was faultless. The staff are so friendly, the spa (and treatments) were wonderful. We had a fabulous cocktail made by a wonderful and informative bar man (really knowledgeable about the products). And a great meal from the bistro bar. We have stayed previously a few years ago and forgotten how great a venue it is. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. Wish we could have stayed longer. The setting is also stunning. Please continue the good work here.

Just back from a relaxing time at Killeavy Castle Estate!! A beautiful hotel set in Slieve Gullion. The grounds are lovely to walk around and the farm shop has plenty of treats! The rooms were spacious and equipped with everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and plenty of pillows! We hired the electric bikes which was a great way to see around the area and also Slieve Gullion forest park. Dinner was excellent, we ate in the Bistro bar, a beautiful setting and the staff are all excellent. Again the breakfast was first class as were the staff.

Fantastic place - not cheap, but for a special occasion ('big' birthday in our case) the staff were wonderful. Absolutely top notch service from start to finish. There was birthday cake waiting for us in our room on arrival and when we returned to our room after dinner we received a knock at the door from a waiter laden with more cake and prosecco - definitely above and beyond service. The spa area is small but very nice - all guests can use the pool/sauna area but you must book in advance due to the small size.

While the bedroom was very clean there was very little storage space, two draws for a four day stay ?. While the bathroom was functional it was like a motel bathroom, very small and bad lighting.On booking for four days i requested a room looking on to the garden instead we got a view over looking the spa roof and the car park.The hotel was not busy so why not accommodate us in a room with the view requested on booking (expense was not a issue). Looking forward to our meals at night i was disappointed that the "special of the day " in the restaurant was the same for the four evenings of our stay. The staff at your hotel were excellent in their duties and the hotel is spotless . The spa looked nice and though my wife availed of a treatment we got to use the spa very little due to the over crowding ! On arriving on our reservation time one day there was 12 other people there far to many, so we just left.(Why not book a max of 6 for 1 hour ?) So over all the Killeavey experience was not one of our top ones, we travel into Northern Ireland at least 4 times per year for 4 day breaks and were looking forward to our stay with you, but unfortunately we were disappointed with the over all "experience"
