The Railway Hotel

Arrived around 5 pm, went up to the bar. The young lady in the bar said we should have had an email and text explaining that cooked food was not available at the moment and we would have to go somewhere else for some food (we received no email or texts). We were then taken to our room and given a key. As we had been driving for over 7 hours, we had planned to eat our main meal when we arrived. As a result we walked over the bridge going over the river and found another pub/hotel who were very helpful and we had homemade steak and kidney pudding which was delicious. Our room had two single beds, a kettle with some tea and coffee. A built in wardrobe and en suite bathroom with a shower, toilet and wash basin. We also had towels, shampoo and shower gel supplied. The shower was ok for a freshen up. The beds were very soft and comfortable. Breakfast was in a small room downstairs which was a help yourself basis and you had a few cereals and bread/toast to choose from. We stayed for two nights, any longer would have been a bit of a push, but we only needed the room to stop over and it's in a nice quiet location. If you plan to get the train to Newcastle or Carlisle the train station is just down the road. There's lots of pretty areas close by. Overall, the service is very basic but it did the job for a short trip.

Apartments attached to this friendly, clean pub. In a beautiful area, river, pubs close by. Near to Hadrians wall areas ..our apartment was a large double bed, t.v. courtesy tray. Lovely hot shower, white fluffy towels. Small joint kitchen area, providing cereals, fridge, yoghurt, milk, bread, jams etc. Cereal bars, fresh fruit, clean white crockery. The owners were very accommodating, made up welcome, giving local information, guidance and I will definitely revisit here

A basic but very cosy pub in a great location for visiting various parts of Hadrians Wall. The breakfast is included and was excellent. The only drawback is the quite small size of the rooms. The view of the town from the nearby bridge is lovely.

Sweet quiet little pub with rooms above. The room was small, clean and comfortable. There was free wifi and the location is in the center of a village so there are a few good restaurants nearby. Or you can get a burger and chips in the pub. The Full English Breakfast was excellent. The parking is on the street but we never had to walk too far. We picked it because it is so close to Hadrian's Wall. There are also a couple of wash and folds nearby. Drop them off and pick them up after a tour of the wall.

We had a really lovely evening, night and morning at The Railway Hotel. The room was super comfortable and charming and, despite being over a busy pub, we slept undisturbed and very well. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, and it was no trouble not only to give us a lift up to the start of our walk on the wall, but also to arrange a lift for our bags all the way to our destination. Worth staying in Haydon Bridge for!

Delightful hotel, very friendly and welcoming staff. Breakfast was great, cooked just right. Room a little on the small side but not a massive issue, we enjoyed our 3 night stay. First day went to Oddfellows coffee over the bridge and had a very tasty bacon and cranberry toastie which was delicious. Bar at the Railway always seemed bustling in the early evenings (always a good sign!), and had a great atmosphere for a sit and a drink. Wish we had a great bar like that near where we live! Everyone in Hayden Bridge was very friendly. We’ve had a lovely short holiday.
