The Hosteller Delhi Bewertungen

I have stayed in hostels all over the world as a solo-female traveler and have never felt as uncomfortable as I did in The Hosteller Delhi. First off, I was the ONLY woman that I saw the entire time - all of the other travelers were male and all of the staff were male. I had reserved a single room and realized that the window leading to the outside (this hostel sits next to a loud gas station) was broken and did not lock shut. When I brought this up to the *** at the front desk, he had someone come and "fix" it. However, the lock wasn't fixed and it still wouldn't lock shut. When I went back out a second time, the guy at the front desk was visibly upset with me, rolling his eyes and attempting to gaslight me by saying that the lock was fixed. I asked to be put in another room and he said there were no other single rooms available. He finally went back into the room, checked the lock himself and saw that it was still broken. At this point, I just wanted to leave the hostel so I told him to cancel my room and I was going to another place. That's when he said he would put me in a single room on the 3rd floor (so obviously he was lying earlier when he said there were no other rooms available). Within 5 minutes of being in the new room, I killed a cockroach that was crawling on the floor. I barely slept that night because I felt so unsafe (literally putting a chair in front of the door). The next day I was planning on going to Agra and leaving my big suitcase at the hostel because I had reserved a room for the following night. However, after my experience, I did not feel safe coming back and did not trust leaving my belongs there. The *** at the front desk was the same as the night before and he was incredibly rude, refusing to look at me and giving me one-word answers to questions. I emailed the hostel asking for my money to be returned for the second night since I was not coming back and they refused to do so. To sum up, this was a truly horrible experience overall and I would not recommend this hostel to anyone, especially women travelers.
