Goldberry Woods- A Modern Farm Resort

Perhaps the most beautiful property I have ever visited! The Inn and all the surrounding structures on the farm are clean, warm, and inviting with charming decor throughout. The trails near the creek are amazing and truly bring you peace. Julie and Eric go above and beyond in making you feel relaxed and at home at this gorgeous piece of heaven. Sitting by the bonfire, just outside of their beautiful barn, underneath the stunning trees decorated by soft lights, truly bring visitors a calming feeling. Waking up and taking in all the aromas of breakfast being prepared and then having the joy of enjoying it was amazing! We cannot wait to come back and see it's charm throughout different seasons. Thank you for an amazing little getaway!!!

This was so charming - I want to go back. The grounds are stunning, more to do than you would imagine. The accommodations are even better in person and the customer service is just 10-star. The location is just perfect, as I'm familiar with the area.

WOW! just blown away by the natural, rustic. luxurious beauty of the property and the kindness of the staff. A note to my loyal readers....This review only covers a special seasonal dinner....more to come when we return for a weekend stay. Serendipity blessed us with an opportunity to attend Goldberry Woods' first annual Fall Harvest Party Garden Fest. The event was held outside at sunset on a glorious early October evening. We were warmly welcomed by their "experience director" Ferris with refreshments. Our host, Julie and her staff, designed and presented a meal showcasing the fruits, nuts and vegetables grown, just steps away from our table, on their farm. After a tour of their hoop-house garden we were seated outside at a table that was fresh out of a romantic comedy on the Hallmark Channel- stunningly beautiful. They began with seasonal small bites of Butternut Squash Hummus and a savory warm apple dip that was like the best artichoke dip ever created by mankind. Warm sourdough focaccia and pumpkin cornbread were served with a corn soup. Freshly foraged mushrooms from a recent wet spell provided a surprise course, along with a salad made up entirely of Goldberry Farm produce. Dinner was a savory winter squash lasagna in a chestnut sage brown butter. This was mouth-wateringly delicious. The perfect end to the night was home-made apple pie with vanilla ice cream. I have heard that when you eat at the best restaurants in the world, you may not remember exactly what you had to eat on that certain night. But, you will always remember how you felt. Its the emotions that live forever in our hearts and minds- long after the meal is over. Goldberry Woods left me with a peaceful feeling of gratitude for the food I enjoyed, the people that labored to provide it, and the friendships that were made at the table that night. Simply magical. Fun fact. "Goldberry", a character in The Hobbit, was as beautiful and youthful River Nymph, with long yellow hair that "rippled down her shoulders" and fair skin. She was thought to be reminiscent of "Mother Nature". Goldberry Woods pays respectful homage to this notion is that they coexist harmoniously with the natural beauty that surrounds the property. My fiancé and I took a quick trip to Goldberry Woods Inn this weekend. We had the most relaxing and enjoyable experience ever. The farm is absolutely stunning! Our room was so peaceful and beautiful. We cozied up by the fireplace at night after a late night swim in the heated pool. One of the best parts of our time there was waking up to the giant serene Evergreen trees outside of our window, the smell of fresh coffee brewing and homemade breakfast awaiting us down stairs with great company. Julie, Eric and the staff are extremely inviting and friendly. We cannot thank Goldberry enough for providing us with an escape from the city at their enchanted bed and breakfast. Yoga and meditation classes are offered, as well, right there on site in their gorgeous new barn! We cannot wait to plan our wedding here this winter! *And to think this little secret gem is tucked away just minutes from the quiet, pristine beaches of Lake Michigan!

Very nice b&b within short distance from Interstate 94. Property on small organic farm with hiking trails in woods and along Galien River. Breakfast is excellent and they will accommodate Dietary requests ( Vegan, dairy free, etc.) They include veggies and fruits from farm in the breakfast. Good and varied restaurants nearby. This is a good spot to stop before or after driving through traffic madness around Chicago. (Less than hour drive to Ilinois border.

Wonderfully relaxing. Clean and Serene B&B with lovely socializing areas. Very willing to accommodate dietary restrictions/preferences. For us, that was vegan/plant based. Loved that they use fresh produce from their farm. We want to try the Quail eggs when they are in-season. Also loved the surrounding woods and trails.
