We decided to stay in the hotel having visited Agia Marina 6 years ago and passing it every time we walked down the hill from our (then) villa. We have not been disappointed! The room is clean and has all of the facilities you need. We have a balcony with great sea views (no sun, but can’t complain). We enjoyed the walk down to the beach/ main road every day and it took only 15 minutes (20 back, uphill). Some lovely local tavernas at the bottom too. Breakfast at the hotel has been lovely each day, with far more choice than I expected and with friendly staff. The pool is lovely and serene and (in May, at least), there are plenty of sun beds to relax on. HUGE SHOUT OUT to Akis and Maria who are both so warm and friendly! And Akis’ cocktails are fantastic (highly recommend the Chocolate Martini!).

Das Hotel kann ich als gut bewerten. Das Essen war sehr gut. Die Suite mit privatem Pool war sehr schön. Jetzt kommt das Aber. Alles Suiten und Zimmer mit Pool sind gegrn die Strasse gerichtet. Und es ist eine Durchfahrtsstrasse. Das wussten wir bei der Buchung. Aber, dass diese 24 Stunden so laut und ohne Pause ist, konnten wir uns nicht vorstellen. Wir konnten unseren Pool nur bedingt geniessen. Denn die Autos und Motorräder sind in Kreta sehr laut und dies im Sekundentakt. Aus diesem Grund würden wir das Hotel nicht mehr buchen. Die Klimaanlage funktionierte die ersten 8 Tage nicht. Der Schaden konnte dann behoben werden. Auch finden wir es nicht richtig, dass viele Leute über die Strassentreppe ins Hotel baden kommen. Welche nicht im Hotel wohnen. Es galt eine Poolregel bis 19.00 Uhr. Diese Leute badeten jeden Abend bis 20.30 und dies neben dem Abenddessen. Fanden wir etwas störend. Es wird angemessene Kleidung verlangt und neben dem Essen wird gebadet. Nicht 5 Sterne würdig. Da auch wir das Wc papier ins Klo schmeissen ist die Abwasserleitung ins Meer immer wieder verstopf. Aber muss die Brüe genau beim Morgenessen entstopft werden, dass die braune Brüe über den Platz beim Frühstück läuft. Und stinkt. Die beiden Pooltoiletten konnte leider nicht geschlossen werden. Wäre mit einem kurzen Handgriff reparierbar gewesen. Wir waren in vielen 5 Sterne Hotels. Es sind hier Kleinigkeiten, die nicht ganz zu luxuriös passen. Der Hauptgrund ist aber die Strasse.
