This may sound crazy, but I didn’t even book to be at this hotel. So how is it I am writing a review of it? Because I actually booked at The Comfort Pyramids inn, only for them to pull a bait and switch, and bring me to one of the scary and dirty rooms at the Golden Pyramids Inn! Despite having no interest to be here in the first place, I can give a genuine review of the room and everything, because they tried to con us that it was just another building of the “same hotel” as the Comfort Pyramids inn! We booked on Booking at a competitive price offering a free upgrade. We arrived at the Comfort Pyramids Inn to be greeted by a friendly front desk agent. He had another representative take us to the roof and show us the view, describe the breakfast and where it is served, and sell us on tours. We declined and said we just wanted to head to our room. He delayed a bit, and then took us back down to the lobby. Two guys were there waiting and picked up our bags. They all proceeded to head out the front door asking us to follow, walking us through different alleyways for a few minutes. We got concerned, so I asked why we weren’t in the building he just showed me. He handed me a key which said “Golden Pyramids Inn” on it. I pointed out this was not the hotel we had booked. He replied, “It is the same hotel, we have another building”. At this point not feeling good at all about it, we are taken to a room. A paper-thin door and broken doorknob led to the room that looked absolutely nothing like what was listed on Booking. Two single beds in poor condition, holes in the wall and a dirty bathroom. The guys looked very eager for us to be ok with it and be on their way. We weren’t happy, but arriving past 10pm, and expecting some curveballs travelling in Egypt, we accepted it. They promptly headed off. We went to the patio before bed. We saw another couple being walked into a sketchy looking room, and looking confused as we did. Once we got to the patio we deliberated and agreed to just make the most of the stay and that we were still at the Pyramids. Back at the room we get into our beds, only to see a bunch of dark hairs on the sheets and the comforter had a giant yellow circular stain on it. That was my breaking point. We grabbed our bags, walked back to the original hotel we checked in at, and told the guy we either want the room we booked, or to refund us. He eventually gave us a cash refund saying the hotel was overbooked. This being the same guy who previously said “it’s the same hotel”. (when a hotel overbooks, they are to advise up front and offer alternate accommodation with transparency, they know this) We caved and spent way more than we budgeted on a last minute rate at the Marriott on the other side of the Pyramids. The fact this hotel is the run down one that the Comfort Pyramids Inn sends it’s less valued guests should be a giant red flag. I don’t think any attempt to clean bedding, the rooms, or any surface has been properly done here. This
