I'm giving this hotel three stars out of sympathy, though it really barely attempts to achieve 3. This is in fact, a good 2 star hotel at best. We paid over 3000 euros for a 6 nights stay here and the reviews on *********** were generally very positive. Makes me think, why do people not portray the reality of things? Is it just to be nice, to conform? Located on a very secluded hill on South Coast of the island, the road leading to this place made us wish we hadn't rented a car. The last couple of windy roads up the hill were so steep the car stalled twice. I had to reverse it a few hundred feet back and get a running start to be able to make it. We arrived at 6am and had booked the night before so we could check in as soon as we got there. We were given a number and told to 'call as soon as you leave the airport'. So we did. Over 20 times. No answer. When we got there the office was closed. I found numbers posted on the door. One of them was of a sister hotel. I called. They answered and somehow got in touch with the ops manager at our hotel who eventually woke up an hour and a half later, and apologetically led us to our room. The junior suite with jetted tub in the balcony was described as being 40m2 with a fully equipped kitchenette. What we got was 2 small rooms with 2 tiny bathrooms and a dining space where there is a sink, fridge, small table with 3 chairs..and a single arm chair. So no where comfortable for 2 people to sit. Both beds were basically mattresses slung onto concrete slabs. The mattresses were old and worn out. Very unconditional and sunken in the middle. Everything was concrete slabs. Plain and white. Not a single drawer in the entire place. One of the rooms had tiny closet space with a few hangers and a concrete slab for a shelf that was 2m high. Suffice to say my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. So the 2nd room was used as a changing room. We kept most of our clothes in our suitcases as there was no place for them...anywhere. The ops manager Dimitra was very pleasant, and also very smart. When complained about the room and said it didn't match the description she said the hotel had given us an upgrade. I said thanks but for a couple on our anniversary I don't see the benefit of the 2nd room. The said the hotel was full, but she could show me more rooms the next day as people checked out. Long story short, our room was given to someone else the night prior to our arrival although we'd booked it. On our third day she offered us the options of moving to 2 other rooms, one was 'the honeymoon suite' and the other was the room we'd originally booked. Neither of them was 40m2 and we didn't see any great benefit from moving. Same motif. Same problems, so we stayed. Check out the difference between the *********** photos and mine. You can guess which is which. Oh, and no blackouts for the sun.
