Newforge House

We had a wonderful experience at Newforge House. John and his team were so friendly and attentive. We had amazing food and a very relaxed night's sleep in a beautifully furnished room. The whole house is so tastefully furnished keeping history alive.

Oh my, what am amazing stay. We felt like lord and lady of the manor. Nothing was to much trouble. Our room was beautiful and so clean, a big four poster bed. John the owner and chef cooked us amazing 4 course meals, the food was like a 5 star mitchlin restaurant. Breakfast was a feast, grounds are beautiful, the staff are so invested in what they do. We will be back ❤️

From the moment we arrived there was a very personal experience. Wonderful and welcoming staff. The food was locally sourced and prepared and presented beautifully. The house is nestled in a quiet setting and with large bedrooms. Well done John and team for a fabulous weekend.

A visit to be cherished. Beautiful old-world house oozing character and warmth. We arrived late on a very cold night. Welcome was so genuine from Catherine who could not have been more helpful. Coffee was brought immediately to the bedroom, a very nice touch. Beautiful bedroom. Fire lit in lounge where we perused the menu and enjoyed pre-dinner drinks. Food outstanding which was prepared by John the proprietor. Michelin standard. John joined us at the end of the meal again most welcoming, an individual who is passionate about standards and genuine warmth of service. Breakfast, again to be cherished, provided by Sylvia, who could not have been more friendly and efficient and prepared by John, what warmth and service. Old-world detail, which is reassuring to experience and hard to find nowadays. Look forward to returning

I had the absolute pleasure of staying with John and his team during a recent visit to the Balmoral Show (journey to show grounds under 20mins). It’s a wonderful and unique in these times to experience stay where you are treated like a guest and not a paying customer. The house exudes old world charm, the decor original and one can only wonder about the history of each exquisite piece of furniture. From arrival each member of staff that came to introduce themselves couldn’t have been more attentive or helpful. (Including the ability to charge your EV) The food was exceptional, everything cooked fresh to order, I only wish I could have stayed another night so I could have sampled everything on the breakfast menu. John was overly accommodating as we constantly changed our dinner plans due to my husband being caught in awful traffic all afternoon in Dublin. He was glad to have made it as dinner was delicious and the dedication to local produce came to the fore as the cheese board was explained in great detail. A stay here will alter your views of corporate hotels filled with plastic bedrooms and generic breakfasts forever, for who could want that when you could have Newforge House.

This really was an amazing place to stay. Totally different to what we normally do and have never stayed in a guest house before but this was a 5 star experience. From the moment you walk in the door the friendliness and professionalism begins. The staff were fantastic and John is a great host and amazing chef. We stayed in the Hannah room which was top quality. Everything was so chilled and relaxed. The set menu was amazing and the breakfast was the best we have had which includes 5 star hotel experiences. We will definitely return but maybe with a few friends, which as a tip, I think would enhance an already amazing experience. Thank you again to John and the team and we will see you again soon.
