DO NOT STAY HERE! DO NOT PASS GO AND COLLECT 200 DOLLARS. SLEEPING IN YOUR CAR IN A PARKING LOT IS A BETTER OPTION. DO. NOT. BOOK. THIS. MOTEL. I suspect this was once a cute little motel, but that is absolutely not the case as of August 2022. I made a one night reservation for a king room via *********** two months earlier. I've used this app for at least 5 years now with no issue. Upon arrival, the motel looked in worse shape than I anticipated, but for 100 bucks, I can deal. I went into the office and there was another guest trying to check in. They had used ******* and the desk clerk couldn't find their reservation. They eventually got it worked out and they were on their way. I gave my name and told the clerk I had used booking. They found my reservation quickly, only to say "We have no king rooms left, so you'll get a double, alright?" No? Not alright. I asked how this was possible and the clerk said "I sold out all of the rooms so there are none left. You get a double now." "There are no singles of any kind left at all?" "You get a double now." After some back and forth about how this is NOT how reservations work, I finally told them I wanted a discount if I had to take a double. "You're already getting a discount. Doubles cost more than kings and I'm charging you for a king." More arguing. I finally left. This whole scene took approximately 10 minutes. I go back to the car and pull into a spot to start looking for another place to stay.... no cell service. At this point, my husband and I decide to go back into town to get this figured out. As we are driving out of the lot, the clerk appears again. They now magically have a king jacuzzi suite to offer. WHAT?! I ask the clerk why they lied. "I have a jacuzzi suite for you" is all they kept saying. This person absolutely refused to answer any of my questions. I finally concede because I know finding another room is going to be difficult (the Crossfit games were going on in nearby Madison.) We get the key and head to the room. The door that leads to the hallways doesn't have a lock.... We get to our room and, welp, it hasn't been cleaned since last use. Towels on the floor, bed disheveled. I take a deep breath and call the front desk from the hotel phone. It rings 20 times. I hang up and try again. "Hello?" "Hi, this is room 211. We just checked in and our room has not been cleaned." "OH! I'm so sorry! I'll come clean it now." The clerk appears within one minute. (There must be hallways I don't know about because we are on the complete opposite side of the building.) What happened next, I still can't quite process... "I haven't rented out this room before. I don't know how this happened?" "Huh? What do you mean you haven't rented this?" "I mean I don't know who was in here. I have one key and you have the other."
