As a Canadian traveler with large family, this boutique hotel in central Montevideo was one of the finest places I have stayed at. The front lobby staff (especially Laura) were incredibly helpful and English was very good. They are available on whatsapp to answer questions prior to your visit. The roof top breakfast dining was really great spread with hot meals. The location is generally safe and walking distance to the central commercial district. The famous Palacio Salvo and Plaza Independencia are a block away. Lots of eateries (Americano Cafe really good), pharmacies, laundry, and convenience stores. The history of revitilzation of this hotel reminded me of the incredible boutique hotels of Queen St W in Toronto (a bit like Drake Hotel with a more family feel). The rooms are not large as it is an older building conversion but offers a comfortable and clean upgrade.

Mein 2. Aufenthalt hier. Altmodisch )(positiv gesehen), in einen alten Haus untergebracht. Möbel wie ich es von meine Oma in Erinnerung habe. Ein Balkon , klein aber es ist da. Sehr freundliche Staff, vor allem älteres Paar der beide male am Abend da war (Besitzer nehme ich an ). Aber alle andere waren hilfsbereit und freundlich. Ich kann es nur empfehlen.

Gute Lage, in Punta Carretas, nur wenige Blöcke von den Ramblas und in einem Spaziergang mit Restaurants und Einkaufsplätze. Große Zimmer, mit sehr guten Betten. Durchschnittliches Frühstück, mit wenigen Optionen. Der Preis war sehr gut. Die Prüfung in der Erfahrung war nicht sehr gut, sie fanden die Buchung nicht, die direkt gemacht wurde ... Bei der Prüfung vergessen sie, dass wir eine Garantie von 20% des Aufenthaltes gezahlt und den vollen Betrag gezahlt haben, und musste es zurück ... Über alle sehr gute Option in Montevideo.

Die Lage ist perfekt, wenn Sie mit dem Bus in und aus Montevideo reisen. Und bei 50$ pro Nacht ist es ein Bargain. Andernfalls versuchen Sie, woanders zu bleiben. Das Hotel ist nicht 4* in jedem Fall. Niemand spricht ein Wort Englisch (Ich spreche gebrochen Spanisch, immer noch schwierig), Haushalter hat nie aufgetreten. Ich habe einen Tag früh geprüft und obwohl ich eine offizielle Anfrage von der Buchung gesendet und bei der Rezeption gefragt, sie nahmen den ganzen Betrag.

This hotel was very disappointing for me and my wife. Looking at the pictures and the previous reviews, I really thought we would stay in a great hotel, but the reality was different. We did the reservation for a standard room, the pictures don't show how small they are. The room that they gave us was on the 2nd floor, and the window was direct to a central air conditioning machine (I suppose it is). It's a big machine, terrible view, but also terrible noise. They turn it off at 6:30pm, and turn it on at 08:30am. If you want to sleep in it is impossible, or if you want to take a nap in the afternoon, impossible too. Besides that there is a door in the room, to the next room, it's obviously closed, but you can hear everything from your neighborhood. The bathroom is ok, towels are good and clean. But when you take a shower the floor gets all wet, even with the box close, it's probably some leak. We stayed for four nights, and in two of then the air conditioning was not working. We called the reception and the answer was that they would have to call a technician, to repair it. They fixed, but in the next day it was broken again. Fortunately the weather was not so cold, and it was possible to leave the window opened, but we we had to deal with the noise coming from outside. We asked to change for a better room as soon as we arrived. But the receptionist said the hotel was full, and that in the next day they would have a free room, in a superior category, but it was necessary to pay the difference to the upgrade. We said that we have the gold benefit from **********, and this update would be for free for us. As soon as we told about the benefit, they tell us that we need to wait for the next day and see if the room would be still available, but, of course, it wasn't free anymore. Although the location of the hotel is good, we definitely wouldn't like to stay there anymore.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Montevideo but there are improvements needed. We travel to Uruguay from the US every 1- 2 years to visit my husband's family and have stayed many places. This hotel is beautiful but the rooms were not as comfortable as expected. We wouldn’t stay here again unless improvements were made because comfort is very important when traveling such a long way and staying up to 2 weeks. Pros: The hotel decor is visually beautiful. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. It was nice that some of the staff spoke English. My husband is a native Spanish speaker and it was great that he didn't have to translate the restaurant menu for me. The morning breakfast was very good and the staff there great. The views from the 10th floor hotel bar and DJ were fantastic. Cons: Not worth the price of the upgrade, and not what you would expect for a hotel with hotel with 4+ rating. We asked if an upgrade was an available at check in because we were staying for 11 nights. We were offered a Suite room that was bigger in size and has a small kitchenette. The size of the room was better for us for a long stay but unfortunately the bed was the worst bed we have ever slept in. It was way too soft, no support and the pillows were too soft. I realize of course this is also about preference but we have stayed at many hotels and have never experienced such a horrible bed. We traveled a long way and a good nights rest is always important. The bathroom- I prefer a long sink or his/her countertop when we travel so that we can arrange our skin care, makeup, beauty products etc. This sink was tiny so I had no place to put my toiletries when getting ready. The lighting is too dark in the rooms even with the curtains fully opened. When I was getting ready, I could barely see anything. A dimmer light switch would be much better. It would also be nice if Restaurant Polo Bamba had a rotating menu for dinner options.

I stayed 3 nights in the so called double standard room. My room was on the 6th floor overlooking the street. I enjoyed my stay at Own Montevideo. The room had a nice modern setup with a plenty of storage space, switches/power outlets in all the right places, many lighting fixtures. I could open windows and get a fresh air. The A/C worked fine. Wi-Fi was fine as well. The bathroom was of a decent size, with the separation between the sink and the toilet/shower. There was a window next to the bathroom sink, with a plenty of light coming in. Everything was in decent shape and looked clean. I found the small shelf was missing in the shower but it didn’t bother me much. Noise level was average. Nothing super loud that bothered me. The breakfast was adequate, with friendly personnel. One thing to know is that you have to specifically ask for coffee/tea and it will be brought to you. Everyone from the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located. I walked to Pocitos/Montevideo sign and back. Everything is a short Uber ride away, with a plenty of Uber cars available. Uber ride to Buquebus terminal for direct ferry to BA at the morning took around 15 minutes. If you arrive at MVD airport without a lot of luggage, you can take DM1 bus at the front of the terminal (84 pesos as of November 2022), get off at the last stop and walk ahead for 2 minutes and you are right there at the hotel door. Very convenient. All in all, everything was good, as it seems like everything else in Montevideo. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and am giving it 5 stars review. I certainly recommend it.

Im Hotel für zwei Wochen verblieben. Die Lage des Hotels ist perfekt. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit, und sie halfen mir in allem, was ich brauchte. Das Zimmer ist komfortabel und sauber, sowie das ganze Hotel.

Das Hotel ist schön. Sobald Sie in der Innenstadt sind Sie von den Rezeptoren begrüßt, die sehr freundlich und freundlich zu allen sind. Wenn Sie ins Zimmer kommen, mit Ihrer Karte, können Sie das Badezimmer nach links und das TV und die Betten am Ende der Halle sehen. Neben dem Bett gibt es eine kleine Küche und ein Tisch, nur wenn Sie etwas dort zu kochen anstatt ausgehen wollen. Die Reinigungsbesatzung war nicht sehr punktuell, wir wussten nie, wann sie das Zimmer reinigen und sie würden immer vergessen, das Toilettenpapier oder die Handtücher wieder zu lagern, aber nach einigen Beschwerden wurde alles gelöst und es nie wieder passiert. Abgesehen davon war der Rest unserer Erfahrung, dort zu bleiben, erstaunlich!

Das Frühstück war nicht so gut, aber akzeptabel. Zustellbetten sollten nicht möglich sein. Mit Kindern sollte es kein Problem sein und die Lage ist recht gut, direkt am Meer, das Zimmer mit Meerblick sieht gut aus. Es gibt Parkplätze, nicht viele.
