Amalú Monteverde

From the moment you arrive and draw up the electronically controlled shades on the windows you know that this is a special place. Combine that with a tidy cabin with all the modern conveniences one would need, make this a place you really don’t want to leave. To top it all off, we also had a well stocked fridge and chilled champagne waiting making our arrival extra special!! Lots of nearby activities to keep you busy—several which you can even walk to! We had an amazing time and look forward to returning!!

The nicest place I have ever stayed at. We were in the Glass Cabin 2.0 and just giggling every night over how amazing it was. Gorgeous view (we woke up to a rainbow every morning!), and there's an observation deck down the path too if you want to be actually under the stars. I was delightfully surprised by the amount of food provided for breakfast and snacks and the kitchen supplies are extremely well stocked. The windows "curtains" are really a projector screen that rolls down by remote, so you can log into your streaming accounts and watch something in the evening. The bed is adjustable by remote. The patio is gorgeous. There's a hot tub outdoors and in the bathroom. Best hot water I've seen my whole stay in Costa Rica. There are robes, slippers, eye masks. Good storage space. I don't have a bad thing to say about it. The one thing to be aware of is that it's a bit outside town. We stayed without a car and it wasn't hard to get a taxi in 10-15 minutes, but they were sometimes a bit pricy. It was worth it to stay here, though!!

This place is an absolute gem! Our family (14,9, two adults) were in love with the A Frame as soon as we parked and walked the lit path. The house is tastefully appointed with everything you need to make yourself at home! The bathroom and bedrooms are spa-like, and the kitchen is ready for a great breakfast or evening snack. We spent hours on the deck watching the clouds and sunset, and could not wait to come home and soak after our days of adventure. We will miss our little retreat in the sky and cannot wait to return. Pura Vida!

Amazing place with amazing view. The cleanliness, equipment, amenities, and hospitality are on top. Everything was more than prepared for our arrival, and they were always attentive to our needs. We would definitely recommend to stay at Amalu when coming to Monteverde.

The glass cabin 2.0 was a phenomenal setting for a relaxing and romantic getaway. Perched on the side of the mountain with panoramic west-facing views, we had lovely sunsets that we enjoyed from the hot tub on the deck, a fabulous full moon, and a rainbow! We cooked a simple dinner in the room on the first night as we didn’t want to miss a minute of this magical setting. We also had a complementary bottle of sparkling wine to drink, which added to the hot tub experience. The second night we were pleasantly surprised by the lovely meal we had at nearby Kapi Kapi restaurant, a family-run establishment with sunset views and excellent food. The owners were friendly and accommodating and we arrived a bit early but were able to check in and get settled. The house is quiet and private—I highly recommend Amalu for a special mountain retreat in Monteverde!
