Hillgrove Hotel, Leisure & Spa

Part of a group that just returned from a short break. Staff were nothing short of amazing. All went the extra mile to help and we were made to feel extremely welcome. Room was spacious, very large, excellent bathroom, and extremely clean. Between the group, 7 different mains were ordered during the stay, and all were top class. The pool and jacuzzi was also fantastic. Company also has an extremely positive ethos. Rewarded with a 5.00 voucher (to be used at bar or restaurant) for reducing laundry (towels). This was to assist in the greener objective. Additionally, as a parent of disabled children, to see the hotel employ disabled individuals was nothing short of outstanding. Looking forward to returning in the future!

We had our annual family meal at the Hillgrove for a group of 35, the food was absolutely fabulous and the waiting staff were extremely helpful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. It was a really busy night in the hotel but this definitely did not impact standards, we had fab food and service.

The Hillgrove Hotel hosted our staff Christmas Party. The consensus from staff was it was a great night. The food and service was top class, credit to all your staff's hard work on the night to attend to such a huge crowd of people. The band was great and enjoyed by all.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. Looking forward to a night away and spa treatments. The spa is terrible! The steam room wasn't working, so we used the one in the pool. All the tiles were falling off, infact there was a pile of tiles were other people had put them. My husband and I both got treatment. Him a body scrub and I a full body massage. I had ticked the form pressure box on my consultation form. It had felt I was being tickled also using way more than enough oil. I asked 3 times for more pressure. Worst massage I have ever experienced! Dinner was nice in the bar but on booking my husband had booked the restaurant. Arrived at the restaurant to be told that it's booked for a special event. One table of about 15/20 people. The next morning I had booked for a facial and went back to the spa. My facial was terrible, the worst I've ever gotten. Same lady and again too much product, tickled, stopping and starting, making lots of loud noises. After this I complained. No manager on that day . Bill had already been sent to reservation. Went to pay on departure. Explained to front desk and was told no manager that we would have to pay and someone would be in contact. Over the next few weeks/months. We have rang several times. And always told no manager. I honestly have given up. Not even an apology. I have never complained about anything but I felt other people should read this before booking. Especially the spa! First ever time leaving any sort of review too! Feeling very unsatisfied and disappointed!

We held our Christmas party here for our staff and the evening was fantastic. We had a beautiful meal and the DJ after was great. The Hillgrove staff were fantastic in looking after us and with the storm due to hit late that night they accommodated us in bringing everything forward so our staff could travel safely. A special mention to Sorcha who was very attentive. Some of our staff stayed over and the reviews we received on Monday morning was a very happy team. Thanks Hillgrove for your hospitality.

I booked this hotel for my family, who were travelling to compete in a sporting event nearby. We booked a family room for one one night, and did not get a wink of sleep. There is no soundproofing whatsoever. I can hear text messages in close by rooms. The floors seem to be weak so that every time someone walks in the corridor, my whole room shakes. To makes things worse, there appears to be some sort of event in the hotel, with people constantly going past my room, loudly. It is now 4.30 am and this is still occurring. This is the worst nights sleep ive ever had at a hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you plan on sleeping, particularly if there is an event on. We ate at the restaurant which was fine..very busy! The room is good , 1 double and a single bed. The parking is plentiful but very far from the door.
