Review from someone from the U.S. and my first time at an all inclusive resort: Wife and family is from Ecuador so we decided to go to Decameron and spend some quality time with the family. We had also heard that they had other resorts and timeshare packages that we may be interested in. Overall it was good but I wouldn’t go back. Probably the most unpleasant and inefficient moment during the entire visit is during checkin. Cars are lined up waiting to get in to the resort as they check each vehicle. I took this as a security precaution and was ok with the wait. Once we got we were told that we needed to wait to hear our name called from a speaker. The speaker quality was very poor so it was hard to understand anything being said. Once they called our name we found out that our room wasn’t ready yet so we had to come back later to check. Unpleasant, but understandable, so we went off to check out the resort. We came back and I was talking to a counter agent named Priscilla. While we were communicating in Spanish about the room, she started talking too quick for me to understand. (Spanish is my second language) I politely asked her in Spanish if she spoke English and she rolled her eyes and snapped back “nope” and the rest of the conversation got really snappy. At this point I was irritated myself and just waited for the key to our room. While this was a small interaction in the trip, rudeness and unprofessionalism is enough for me to hold off at looking at any Decameron time share package, which I told every person who came to talk to us about it. Ok so the good, the area is beautiful. The pools are great and it was really fun taking a boat tour around the area. I thought the food was great at the buffet, and I will say the servers in the buffet area were very nice. If you want to eat at a restaurant, I recommend booking right at 8AM. We were only able to get into the Italian restaurant but I didn’t mind. Additionally, there was plenty of bars open around the area. The mixed drinks were eh but I couldn’t go wrong with the beers. We went to an entertainment show and it was cool to see and hear songs from the 70’s and 80’s mixed in with dance and a performance. Overall impression: Front counter needs work in customer service, especially Priscilla. Resort is safe, beautiful and a nice get away if you are ever in the Mompiche area. Would I go back? Probably not unless there was a strong incentive.
