Buccleuch Arms Hotel

We had a lovely stay and are happy to recommend this hotel. Very characterful victorian hotel with modern bathroom. We loved the map room. Drying room for bikers and walkers gear very handy. The food was really good and the service excellent. The staff went the extra mile to help with driving routes and walking routes including printing off maps which was typical of their friendly helpful attitude. Moffat town was nicely old fashioned with it's high street shopping. The countryside is beautiful with hills, lochs and winding roads. Mostly empty of traffic. Really should be on your bucket list. Car parking is in the high street but free of charge and we had no trouble parking. Bike garages available.

Had the best time, went for the new year, never felt so welcome in a hotel. Family run and everyone was amazing. We stayed b&b and it was fantastic huge selection of choice and plentyof it. We also had an evening meal which was also great. Dave and his team should be very proud 👏

Arrived at the hotel with my husband. We traveled on our motor bike and rented a bike shed to put the bike away. These are spacious and keeps the bike dry. We stayed for 3 nights. Dave, Clint, Lara, Polly and his workforce are so lovely. Very helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and a varied menu for meat eaters, vegetarian and vegan palates. Moffat and surrounding area is fantastic. Well worth a visit.

We used the Buccleuch Arms Hotel as our base for a Dumfries & Galloway area motorcycle trip. The hotel is exceptionally well geared up for motorcyclists, walkers and cyclists. We got absolutely hammered with rain on our journey into Moffat and upon arrival the owner Dave could not be more helpful, we were greeted and the bikes put into secure parking, and shown the drying room so all clothing could be dried out ready for the following day. A welcome real ale beer and a lovely meal was served by such lovely and attentive staff, with a single aim to ensure your needs were catered for, they really could not do enough to ensure you were happy and had everything you needed. The food was top quality and tasty, the rooms and facilities very well presented , and the owner Dave helped us out with his extensive knowledge on sat nav devices and route planning, (as the owners are keen motorcyclists themselves) to ensure a great holiday and to show us all the lovely spots of the local area on an extensible mapping and information system. This hotel has it well sorted for not just motorcyclists, but walkers, cyclists and birds or prey eagle watching, so much so we propose to return to do just that. A cracking multi centre hotel that really needs to be experienced, and great value for money. Very well done to all the staff at the. Buccleuch Arms, great overall experience thank you.

Really enjoying my stay at this family run hotel. Ideally placed in the centre of Moffat, clean & comfortable. They have a stated aim of ensuring you get a comfortable stay One amazing aspect: each night you stay, you get a lottery ticket that gives you a share in a syndicate of people staying that night. If the win is over £1000 it pays you a small percentage. If the win is less than £1000, the money is given to local charities.

All too often you book a hotel and have certain expectations after reading the reviews and unfortunately, all too often the hotel doesn’t meet your expectations for some reason - well, all I can say is that The Buccleuch was far better than I expected it to be! To say this place is biker friendly is a total understatement, secure off street parking with mini garages available if requested, washing facilities for your bike together with any polishes and maintenance fluidsyou may need including a calibrated tyre pump. The food, both in the evenings and the breakfast is outstanding and all the staff go out of their way to make you welcome - everyone works together like a well oiled machine to make sure you have the best experience possible. There is plenty of choice of real ales etc at the bar which I made sure I tried a few pints but as I was only there for one night didn’t get chance to try any of the 50 or so single malts - I’ll save that for next time! Great stay, I can’t wait to go back and many thanks again to Dave, Clint and the team for looking after me.
