Quinta do Vau

This is a fabulous bed and breakfast hotel! Spotlessly clean and nicely decorated throughout. Good quality bathroom and kitchenette (although we only used the fridge). Nice quality linen and towels, plus pool towels provided also. Good air con. We had a balcony overlooking the town and castle which was lovely. Pool clean but I think it could get a bit crowded as it’s only small and there are quite a few rooms here. One family took over the pool for a few hours one afternoon which was really annoying (didn’t bother me too much but a middle aged woman who’s overweight wearing a thong and doing handstands in the shallow end isn’t pleasant by any stretch of the imagination) . Good breakfast with freshly squeezed juice, bread, cheese, meats, yogurts etc was well worth €7. A few niggles such as a mucky shower drain, hairline cracks in the bathroom sink … however this doesn’t affect my rating and I feel it was great value for money!

Quinta do Vau is a nice B&B located at the left bank of the Guadiana River in Mértola. The B&B offers 15 rooms, some with kitchenette. The B&B has a small pool with deck chairs, a lounge with breakfast facility and a large terrace with view of the river on top of the second building. Staffs are friendly. We had room 11 with a view of the river. The tastefully furnished & decorated 22m2 room had a balcony and private bathroom. The room had a kingsize bed with a average mattress & hard pillows, table & chairs, air-conditioning, club-chair, and a well outfitted kitchenette with coffee-machine, fridge, magnetron, stove top, sink, and all utensils you need. The sunny balcony had with 2 comfy chairs and small table & 2 chairs. The separate bathroom had washbasin, spacious shower and toilet. All was impeccably clean. The next day we moved to room 15. Again a 22m2 room with the same outfitting. Instead of a shower this room had a bath-for-2 with view of the river. Free Wi-Fi & parking. A very good breakfast is served with a nice variety: eggs made to order, ham & cheese, bread, yoghurt, freshly pressed orange juice, fruit & preserves, pastries, tea & coffee. We found Quinta do Vau very pleasant & comfortable, and we had a nice stay. Highly recommended.

On the one hand, the setting and view of Mertola are spectacular. The rooms are clean and tidy. On the other hand, reception by staff - who only speak Portuguese - is sketchy but perhaps this is due to language barriers? Breakfast - not before 8 - is ok. I recommend this place for the grounds, view and quiet. For the price also, it is a great value.

We stayed here for 2 nights and my goodness what a truly special place. The staff are outstanding, the room we occupied was spotless, had a mini apartment so a very well equipped kitchen, the pool and surrounding area lovely and beautifully kept. We cannot fault this hotel and will retu4n soon.

Petite structure hôtelière magnifique avec la plus belle vue sur le village de Mertola, la rivière, et la campagne. Un vrai havre de paix et un cocon avec une déco soignée et un très bon petit déjeuner. Terrasse pour profiter de la vue sur le village et la rivière quand la chambre ne le permet pas. Notre chambre avec balcon vue rivière et montagne était très confortable et à notre avis la plus tranquille et la plus intime, sans vis à vis. La piscine est un vrai plus et très agréable. Il faut juste être prêt à être excentré et avoir un véhicule.

2 dias maravilhosos! 2 adultos e uma criança, ficamos no apartamento T1, super confortável. A piscina com vista rio e para Mértola é de cortar a respiração... Sentimo-nos em casa e com certeza absoluta vamos voltar muito em breve. Para quem procura descanso é a melhor opção, não se vão arrepender.
