Our family of 10 spent two memorable days at Barahi Jungle Lodge in mid-October 2024. The lodge is beautifully situated along the banks of the Rapti River, right next to Chitwan National Park. The rooms are captivating, overlooking the river with all modern amenities while maintaining a charming, rustic decor. The food was enjoyable, but the standout feature was the exceptional service. They have a unique approach where the same staff member serves all your meals, and the same naturalist accompanies you on every safari, which makes the experience consistently personal and immersive. For our safaris, we had an experienced naturalist, Sagar, who was not only knowledgeable but also an engaging storyteller, adding depth to our experience. We tried three different types of safaris: jeep, boat, and walking, each offering its own unique appeal. The jeep safari took us deep into the jungle, where we spotted rhinos, deer (both spotted and sambar), and boars, though no tigers—only their pug marks. The boat safari offered a serene drift down the Rapti to its confluence with the Narayani River, perfect for viewing crocodiles. Lastly, the walking safari in the nearby forest allowed us to explore the local flora up close. As for the dining options, they offer both a sit-down service with a limited menu and a buffet, both of which were excellent. Special thanks to Sanjana, whose attentive service throughout our stay made the experience feel warm and personalized. She helped arrange a beautiful lamp and candle-lit dinner in the garden for us, which felt truly special and intimate.
