Disappointing stay in an amazing city at what could be a great hotel if management tried. We spent several nights at this NH, and have stayed at other NH properties in Europe in recent years. The NH Medellin was a letdown especially for the price. A prime example is New Year's Eve, we returned from a dinner out at 11:30 pm to the hotel hoping to get some glasses of champagne and celebrate. The main (only) bar in the hotel was closed, so we went to the restaurant on the second floor. There we were met with overworked staff trying to manage the huge guest load who didn't notice us at all. I finally asked about some champagne and was met with a simple "no." Surprised, and feeling sorry for the stressed staff, I went to the front desk to inquire there, and got another curt no. So, we sat outside and had our own celebration. But this lack of interest in service is the hallmark of the hotel it seems: our AC system never worked properly and was never fixed despite many requests, hotel concierge seems non-existent for help with plans and planning, etc. The only saving grace was the bellman, Jorge, who is tireless, friendly, wonderful.
In short, the NH Medellin is not bad per se, but certainly does not live up to its pricing or its status as a top hotel. You can do far better for far less in Medellin right nearby.
