"Friendlich effiziente Rezeption. Saubere komfortable Unterkunft und schöne Aussichten vom Restaurant-Patio, wo wir trinken hatten. Das Abendessen war lecker und fachkundig von Yolanda serviert. Wir wurden für unsere frühe Reise ein packtes Frühstück serviert. Ein großer Aufenthalt für einen Besuch der herrlichen Matopos!"

"I stayed at this lodge several times in the 1990s and took many friends and family there, it was always my favourite in whole of Zim, we all thought it was wonderful. I have just revisited this most perfectly situated lodge with simple but beautiful accomodation and facilities. The staff were welcoming and friendly. But, oh dear, what has happened to the maintenance and restauration ? Much more needs to be done, especially to bathroom tiling and fittings and some bedroom furnishings, and the pool looked very uninviting. As for the meals, stodgy, too much on the plate, lacking in imaginative preparation and presentation. Such a pity ! I still loved it, but it can’t compete with it’s neighbours in Matopos like that."

"Big Cave is uniquely nested into a hillside with an expansive view of the landscape below. Be forewarned the lodge’s remoteness brings challenges. Wifi is only available in the reception/dining area and lags when multiple guests are logged in. There’s no power late at night so charge your electronic devices early. It’s worth packing a flashlight for the occasional power outage. Walkways between cottages are not paved, a bit of a challenge for the mobility impaired like myself. After running the shower for over ten minutes one evening - not good conservation protocol - I still could not get any hot water. I ended up taking a sponge bath with water heated from the electric kettle. More exasperating was a glaring lapse by the housekeeping staff. Despite repeated reassurances of overnight laundry service, I even confirmed this with the manager, I received my clothing the next morning, neatly folded but UNWASHED. Overall, my stay was memorable for all the wrong reasons."

"We had an incredible stay here. Our only regret is that we could not be here longer. Billy knew that I had a special interest in rock art, and he was able to give us room 8, which has its own pictograph in the room. The rooms are built into the natural rocks, so every place in the lodge was beautiful. Our guide Edward went beyond the call of duty to make sure we could see a lot in a short period of time. During the first evening he took us to watch an incredible sunset from a rocky hill, and took us to see a granary that had been used during an uprising against colonialism in the 1890s. Both the rock art and the rocks he showed us in the park were incredible, worthy of its world heritage status. There were white rhinos — but I also should mention the zonkey at the lodge. I appreciate that the lodge works with the community through a nonprofit. If you stay here you should expect ti walk up and down steps, but the exercise is great after all the fine meals. The staff were all very attentive and made sure the stay was memorable. ."

"Obwohl die Buchung der Unterkunft ein geschlossenes Gefühl hatte, und eine Luft von Verschleiß. Pool wurde dann geschlossen, wenn er sagte, es funktioniert es war schlau und nicht gefiltert. Ein Menü für Abendessen für $20, von denen die Hälfte nicht verfügbar war und bei der Ankunft sehr arme war, wie es das Frühstück war. "

"Als Teil einer Gruppenreise war die Lodge ein HÖHEPUNKT! Einmalige Lage auf Hügeln in den Matobo Hills, zentrale, offene Bar, Pool und Restaurant Kurze Wege führen zu sehr gut ausgestatteten Bungalows mit breiten Betten und reichlich Decken für kalte Nächte. Wenig Steckdosen und etwas ungünstige, da fehlende Beleuchtung im Inneren des Zimmers ggü. dem Bad und Bett. Eine (Steh-)Lampe wäre eine einfache Lösung Gut ausgestattetes Bad mit Tageslicht, großer, begehbarer Dusche und zuverlässigem Warmwasser Im Vergleich zu anderen Lodges sehr gute Auswahl an sehr guten Speisen im Restaurant (statt oft 1 Tagesgericht). Nur das Frühstück kann wegen der Auswahl nicht ganz mithalten Professionelles, da gut geschultes und freundliches Personal von der Managerin über den Service, die Zimmerpflege und die Instandhaltung Absolut cooler, Guide, der die Touren durch die Hügel und zu den Nashörnern begleitet. Der ist vom Kenntnisstand und seiner Art her Weltklasse Eine super Anlage!"

"Fantastic except that the management allows overlanders camping at the campsite the free run of the lodge area. They monopolize the pool, talk on speakerphone, video chat as if in a hotel lobby rather than a safari camp. Supposedly the policy that they are only allowed to use the lodge when there are no guests, but this was not enforced even after we complained numerous times. Finally they were asked to leave, but only after a 24 hour “occupation”. Owners need to decide what kind of place they are running"

"Am Ende unserer Botswana und Simbabwe-Reise durften wir noch drei Tage in der Amalinda Lodge genießen. Die Lodge ist ein architektonisches „Meisterwerk“: mitten in und um die Felsen gebaut mit einem außergewöhnlichen Pool. Alle Mitarbeiter waren super freundlich, unser Guide Kevin großartig und das Essen hervorragend. Neben der Ruhe sind natürlich die Nashörner im nahegelegenen NP die Attraktion."
