To be honest, I was skeptical about this one. I needed to book the hotel last minute (like literally the previous night), so seeing an old-looking building (probably constructed in the 1980s) was not really encouraging BUT I wanted to see Matera, so I went ahead. The hotel surprised me and by a lot. First of all - yes, the building is old BUT all inside is renovated, so all is great. The rooms are good in size (not too small at all, just right) and everything is very clean. You have a full minibar if you want something and the hotel has a working restaurant and staff at reception 24/7. The breakfast is phenomenal (like, literally anything any traveler could want) and the staff are helpful and friendly. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Basically, there is no other hotel in Matera which is closer to the Sassi and the historical center. You just need 5 minutes of slow walking (entrance to the old town square is just behind the hotel :) ) and you are at the viewpoint and the cistern. There is a vending machine for snacks and drinks just less than 10 minutes away down the street from the hotel (in the old town) and any sights and amazing places to eat are within the same 5-10 minute distance. If you want to see the historical center of Matera, this is the place to stay (you won't regret it, trust me!). The hotel is very popular with Italians visiting Matera, so keep that in mind and if you are not travelling solo, like me, better book in advance :) The prime location comes with a single downside and a few things to consider (listing them here as they are just things to keep in mind and not something that is a huge issue) - the proximity to the Sassi means you will be quite far away from the bus station (3 kilometers) and the train station (1.5 kilometers). The distance is not that much BUT it is an uphill slope 90% of the time, so if you have a lot of luggage, better take a taxi. I loved it, so there is nothing I can put my finger at as a bad things, really, I just want to continue what I started above with the things you should keep in mind when visiting. If you come by car, make sure to notify the hotel in advance, as it is within a restricted parking area and parking lots are limited. Also be aware that the hotel is busy (as I said, very popular with Italians visiting) and check-in starts at 15.00, so if you come in earlier than that, you may need to wait. The staff would do anything they can to accommodate you early, BUT if you plan on arriving before noon, better notify them, to get your room ready. The hotel also have luggage storage, just so you know. Did I say I loved it? Just to repeat I can't wait to return!

Excellent, attractive room, very central yet private, peaceful and secure. Aircon, kettle, fridge supplied in room. Secure parking available nearby if needed, in a monitored parking garage (current cost 20 Euros for 24 hours or on an hourly basis). We were greeted by the lovely Simonetta, who is an absolute treasure. So knowledgeable, she gave us masses of information on where to go and what to see in Matera and went above and beyond to help us feel comfortable. Fantastic service! Matera itself is the most fascinating town and I strongly recommend a visit. We hope to return one day and would definitely book Euvodia again.

Ich hatte hier eine tolle Massage und Hydrotherapie, aber ich blieb nicht im Hotel. Sowohl die Massage als auch die Spa-Anlagen waren fantastisch - besser als ich erwartet hatte. Die Massage war ein ich gebeten - tiefer Druck wegen aller Treppen! Das Spa verfügt über mehrere große warme Röhren mit Jets, Dampfzimmern, Saunen.

We had a wonderful time at La Suite. It was a last minute switch from a luxury hotel too far out of town. We were so lucky to have found la Suite. It was a great location just off the pedestrian area, easy to walk anywhere, the Sassi entry points and the many good restaurants in Matera. Particularly handy in the recurrent rain we faced. The staff were very friendly and helpful in suggesting restaurants etc. Its a great base in Matera. Only hiccup was a bit slow breakfast on the last day when they didn't have many guests and everyhing had to be pre-ordered and a slight miscommunication on the laundry - it showed up finally. All in all a lovely place.

Ein besonderes Erlebnis. Vom Fernbusbahnhof kostet ein Taxi 10 Euro zum Hotel, und der Fahrer ruft das Hotelpersonal aktiv an, um beim Tragen des Gepäcks zu helfen, da es Stufen zum Aufstieg gibt. Das Hotel verfügt über die originellste Unterkunft, hauptsächlich mit Kerzen. Kein Fernseher. Das heiße Wasser war außer Betrieb und wurde eine Weile nicht repariert. Als Entschädigung haben wir den Check-out verzögert, bis wir Matera nachts verlassen haben. Das Frühstück war großartig. Die Rezeption war auch sehr freundlich. Helfen Sie uns, heißes Wasser zu kochen, Bordkarten auszudrucken und ein Taxi zu rufen. Es gibt viele Höhlenhotels in dieser Gegend. Dieses ist sehr authentisch und von hoher Qualität.

My wife and I stayed here for one night to see Matera. The hotel, our room, and amenities were all outstanding. A particular compliment to Rocco at the reception desk who gave us great advice for our next stop in Bari and Linda at the bar who was very gracious. The location is perfect to walk and see the sights of Matera. I agree that using the hotel’s parking arrangement outside of Sassi with the accompanying shuttle is the best way to proceed.

Wir waren in diesem Hotel Anfang Juni 24. Alles war absolut perfekt ! Zunächst die freundliche und engagierte Ankunft von Betty und Ivana telefonisch, die uns alle notwendigen Informationen gegeben haben, um unsere Ankunft in Matéra und die Reise zum Hotel zu erleichtern! Dann die warme Begrüßung von Ivana bei unserer Ankunft! Die Hilfe von Samir, so freundlich und verfügbar, mit unserem Gepäck ! Und das gibt uns Informationen über die Stadt. Das Hotel, ideal in einem ruhigen Bereich, mit herrlicher Aussicht auf die paleolithischen Höhlen, und das ist vollständig in den Felsen gebaut !! Und die Zimmer, unter den Wäldern, so chic, exquisites Geschmack, komfortabel, wo Sie sofort so gut fühlen ! Schließlich, das Frühstück, cool und variiert, das frische und leckere Produkte bietet ! Es war ein außergewöhnlicher Aufenthalt in einem außergewöhnlichen Betrieb! Wir liebten es und können nicht warten... bald wieder zu kommen !!

Das Hotel ist so schön und die Aussicht ist erstaunlich, wenn Sie die Tür öffnen. Matera ist eine meiner Lieblingsstädte in Italien. Würde bei einem Besuch von Matera auf diesem Hotel bleiben und dann müssen Sie von der Stadtatmosphäre beeindruckt werden. Das nächste Mal werde ich mindestens 2 Nächte lang bleiben, um die Stadt zu erkunden. Darüber hinaus hat uns das Hotelpersonal ein nahegelegenes Restaurant vorgestellt, das so raffiniert war.
