The Grand Mountain Hotel

The Grand Mountain Hotel, Sri Lanka We stayed at The Grand Mountain Hotel during a business trip with Blåkläder. While the hotel appears grand and spacious at first glance, it quickly became evident that it struggles with maintenance and service—especially when hosting a large group like ours (over 80 people). Rooms & Cleanliness: The rooms were spacious but poorly maintained, showing signs of wear and neglect. My room was not properly cleaned upon arrival, which was disappointing. Facilities & Cleanliness: The hotel itself is large and has potential, but it is clear that maintenance has been overlooked. Dirty glasses and cutlery were a recurring issue in the restaurant, which does not reflect well on the overall hygiene standards. Service & Hospitality: It did not seem like the hotel had experience handling such a large group. One of the biggest letdowns was the lack of alcohol. With a large corporate group visiting from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland, it should have been expected that a well-stocked bar would be essential, yet they were severely understocked. Overall, The Grand Mountain Hotel has potential, but the lack of maintenance, cleanliness, and preparedness for large groups made the stay less enjoyable. Would not recommend for corporate events unless significant improvements are made.

Terrible Honeymoon Experience Our stay at The Grand Mountain Hotel was extremely disappointing. We requested a bathtub room, but it wasn’t provided. The bed decoration was not provided, poorly done, and lacked the promised details. Simple requests like beer were unavailable, the hot water shower didn’t work, and there were no toothbrushes in the room. I called the reception twice to request the Wi-Fi be fixed, but they never provided it, and after that, they didn’t answer the phone. The waiters were unknowledgeable about the food menu. Fresh juice was not available; only lime juice was offered. I placed an à la carte order, and after an hour, I finally received my food. Upon arrival, nothing we expected was available. It was a terrible experience, and we cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very nice hotel, with big comfortable beds. The hotel also had a great buffet where we had dinner (I liked the dessert the most). Unfortunately we had only a short time to spend so we were not able to check out what seemed like an amazing pool area.

Thank you Grand Mountain Hotel Matale , Sri Lanka for making it a grand event true to its name. The ambience,decor and the natural scenery around added glamour with a pleasing sight. The menu and the food was excellent and a special mention must be made about the Executive Chef Priyantha and his team and also to Mr. Saman FnB Supervisor and his team for providing a professional beverage service. It must be mentioned about the excellent coordination by Ms. Dilini and Akeela in helping us to coordinate this event. We the Groom’s party opted to stay for two nights pre and post wedding and thank you for making our stay a memorable one.

Super Friendly Staff, Calm Environment. Delicious food.Pools is superb with a outstanding garden view. Rooms are super clean and stunning. Everything is perfect. Would come again with our families for sure.. We wish all the best for the management and the team of the grand mountain❤️

Typically it was surrounded by greeneries and river passing by hotel First off all front desk staffs were too helpful Specially miss krishanthi( I should mention her name) We booked 6 rooms accompanied by many kids everyone really enjoyed the stay at this hotel - nice comfortable rooms cozy beds , good breakfast , Large swimming pool (needs to be cleaned), Very near to Matale Town and a food city next to the hotel which is a plus again - Overall I would really Recomand this place one and only option in Matale town - We will Visit again Thank you team TGMH -
