This Riad is in a fantastic location only a few minutes walk from the old town centre in Marrakech. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We upgraded to a suite and were greeted with a nice cup of Morroca tea. The suite was below what we expected in so far as no hairdryer, no TV, no mini barm, no drinks in our room - even basic hotels usually offer bottled water in your room; (we had to ask for water and were charged), no toiletries in the bathroom. The bathroom was heated by a small electric heater and we only found we had enough hot water for one person at a time, so showers had to be super quick. Luxury in Morrocco is not the same as luxury in the UK. I didn't like the blankets on the bed as you. have no idea how often they are washed and although the bed was clean, I wonder if the bedding was washed - I don't think our beds were changed in our stay and I saw a local company ( laundrette) that was steaming sheets rather than washing. The room was clean, but the lighting dark and I found it hard to work due to the dim lighting. The Wifi was good and reliable. Using the safe in the room will cost you an extra 2 Euros per day. I have never heard of this, as it is usually a guest service and complimentary. Breakfast was very average. No fresh fruit was offered all week which was readily available. We were offered semolina soup and pancakes. The Moroccan pancakes and local honey are delicious but this was all that was offered. If you wanted an extra small glass of orange juice at breakfast, you were charged for it ( never had this before with a breakfast that is included). Local hotels serve a range of delicious fresh orange and cinnamon and banana crepes. By the end of the week we were bored with having the same breakfast every day. The air-conditioning was troublesome resulting in us waking up cold ( we went in January) but was fixed when we asked about it. I felt that this Riad did the minimum for guest comfort and everything seemed to be about charging the guests and keeping things at the bare minimum. It wasn't cheap and compared to other placed I have stayed in the world, it was very average. The outside pool is not heated. Looking at friends who have stayed in other Riads in Marrakech, I felt it fell below the standard we expected for the price. A good hotel but could do a lot more to improve. The hotel staff are what makes this hotel, very friendly and helpful.
