I planned an entire trip around traveling to Marfa and staying at El Cosmico, booking a unique accommodation that has been on my bucket list for years . I booked well in advance with a confirmation that stated it was non-cancellable and that I would be charged if I canceled. I made non-refundable travel arrangements—airfare and car rental — based solely on this stay. Imagine my shock when I received a generic form email from El Cosmico summarily canceling my reservation without warning, explanation, or apology. So apparently, guests are penalized for canceling, but they can cancel on you at any time with zero accountability. To make matters worse, while I received an email saying a refund would be issued, no refund has actually been processed. No follow-up, no outreach, no attempt to resolve the disruption they caused. This is not just bad customer service – it's a complete lack of professionalism and integrity. I expected better from a place with such a creative and curated image. Instead, I was treated with total disregard as a guest and left scrambling with sunk costs and no place to stay. I strongly urge others to think twice before booking here. Hospitality and reliability matters – and unfortunately you won’t find either at El Cosmico.
