We stayed at Discovery Primea for 7 days and 6 nights while bringing our daughter to Makati for her first experience in the Philippines, where she was competing in the YAGP Semi-Finals. We also had family members staying in another Business Suite for five nights. For a hotel positioned at this level, our experience was unfortunately disappointing . On our second night, we decided to use the kitchen in our suite and discovered a food container left behind from the previous guests, with food inside that had already developed mold. This was extremely unpleasant and, more importantly, raised serious concerns about the thoroughness of the cleaning and inspection of the suite prior to our arrival. The kitchen utensils were also incomplete, which meant we had to repeatedly call housekeeping for basic items. Even after the room was cleaned, soap, toiletries, and other small amenities were not consistently replenished, resulting in more calls to housekeeping throughout our stay. What was equally disappointing was the lack of follow-up after I reported the moldy leftover food to a lady at the front desk the following day, I also provided the video of the container and microwave to her and she managed to record it. Unfortunately, I cannot recall her name, but it was not Janna who was often on duty together with Ezra Tecson. She was another lady who wasnt on their duty schedule.Despite the seriousness of the issue, nobody contacted us afterward, and nothing was addressed during the remainder of our stay.Only on our final day, when I raised the matter again with Ezra Tecson, did I feel that the concern was properly acknowledged. Ezra was attentive, listened carefully, and informed me that he would escalate the matter. I appreciated his professionalism. We also noticed an uncomfortable inconsistency in response times between our requests and those made by one of our relatives staying in the other suite. One of our relatives is Caucasian, and his requests seemed to receive much faster attention, while ours often took longer. I cannot state the reason for this, but the difference was noticeable enough to leave us questioning the consistency and equality of service. The best part of our stay was the service from Mark and Anthony at the breakfast restaurant. They were warm, attentive, genuinely friendly, and made us feel welcome. Their hospitality stood out significantly compared with the rest of the experience, and they deserve recognition.Overall, Discovery Primea is undoubtedly a beautiful and luxurious property, but luxury should be more than plush interiors and formal greetings. For us, the stay lacked warmth, proactive service, attention to detail, and proper follow-up when something went wrong. The concierge service also felt less efficient than what we would expect from a five-star hotel. For a 7-day stay centred around an important milestone for our daughter, we had hoped the hotel would become part of the happy memories of her first YAGP experience in the Philippines. Instead, the strongest memories were of having to repeatedly request basic items, finding moldy food left by previous guests, and receiving no meaningful follow-up until the day we were leaving.Discovery Primea has the setting and facilities of a five-star hotel, but in our experience, the warmth and consistency of five-star hospitality were missing.
