Sun Valley Residence

Having booked a trip for 10 people almost six months ago, you can imagine how disappointed and upset we all where to be notified that the Sun Valley Appartments had cancelled our reservation with no explanation a week before we where due to travel. Having booked flights, transportation, ski hire, restaurants and lift passes our only option is to try and find alternative accommodation with 5 days to go in a resort that is now sold out. I would seriously consider booking with a organisation like Sun Valley that fails to communicate with its guests and leaves you high and dry at the 11th hour.

I previously stayed here in April 2024 for one week. Do not book this hotel or with Ski Planet I booked Sun Valley apartments with Ski Planet last June after I stayed with them previously for a week. I was emailed on 26.12.24 by Ski Planet who said that the Sun valley had permanently closed due to safety concerns and therefore my apartment booking was cancelled and I would need to seek alternative accommodation in La Plagne. I then realised that the Sun Valley apartments were still being advertised on various other websites including the hotel website. I phoned Sun Valley who told me they had failed a safety test (fire alarms not working in the apartments) as well as other safety isssues. The hotel said it will be reopening in mid January. The said they were only temporarily closed but hoped to reopen. I asked, phoned and emailed both Ski Planet and Sun Valley hotel if we could keep our reserved apartment rooms to see if the hotel would later reopen if it passed the inspection test. But either Ski Planet cancelled them or the hotel resold the rooms. I was then told I no longer had any reservation. Appalling customer service. No-one at either Ski Planet or Sun Valley despite so many attempts to communicate with both has helped us.

We visited Sun Valley for an early Easter ski trip with the kids. The great bits are that it’s ideally located and is proper ski in ski out being 2 minutes ski from the Bergerie chairlift. The apartment was absolutely fine for the price, spacious enough with a good balcony and smart TV with Netflix (ideal for the kids after a days skiing) and a little kitchenette for making meals. The decor is a little tired but the apartment was clean. The kitchenette was well appointed and allowed us to make breakfasts and dinner a few nights. The only challenge is there is no oven (just a microwave) but with a full sized hob and crucially a dishwasher we worked round that fine. The pool and spa area were great. The changing rooms and showers have been recently refurbished so were nice and whilst the pool isn’t the biggest it was great for the kids to have a bit of a swim in whilst the parents sat watching in the jacuzzi or nearby sauna and steam rooms. There is also an Intersport ski hire shop in the building- a massive plus as it took all the hassle out of renting skis. The only true negative for us was the terrible on site restaurant. We are there on the first night and never again. We also met people who had evening meals included in their stay who instead chose to eat at other restaurants at additional expense instead! The building is very close to restaurants and a reasonably well stocked Spar so covered all the bases we needed for a great ski trip. Would definitely return.

Nous avons subi de la part de cette résidence une annulation de dernière minute. Nous avons été averti le mardi 11 mars par l'hotel (en les appelant par hasard) et plus tard dans la soirée par Booking. Nous devions arriver le samedi 15 mars. Il semblerait que l'hotel savait depuis plusieurs jours voir semaines qu'ils seraient fermé sur cette période (problème d'agrémentation). Booking ne nous a pas retrouvé une autre location (plus de dispo sur leur plateforme dans la même gamme de prix et sur la même station). Nous avons du réserver en urgence sur une autre plateforme une location (la seule restante) avec un surcout de 1500 euros (nous étions 6). Booking nous a remboursé 25 euros... Bravo à cette résidence Sun Valley et à Booking....

Situation idéale dans un cadre superbe. Les logements sont confortables et parfaitement équipés pour les familles. La piscine, jacuzzi, sauna, hammam sont un plus très appréciable. Commerces, restaurants à proximité ou dans les environs avec les navettes gratuites.

Vacances au top, personnel très accueillant et disponible. Appartement parfait pour notre séjour à la plagne avec toutes les utilité dont nous avions besoin. Parfaitement situé. Je recommande en couple ou en famille. Superbe région à découvrir !!!!
