Villa Pétrusse - Relais & Châteaux

The "Villa Pétrusse", formerly known as "Villa Baldauff", is an iconic, historical landmark in Luxembourg City. Perfectly restored !! Beautiful mansion/maison de maître, outstanding views and garden! BUT!! Don't judge a book by its cover! Appearance over substance!! The staff (reception, waiters/waitresses...) reminded us of "Fawlty Towers" 😱 Food&drinks = ok, but no value for money! Very expensive 💸 Reading all the raving 1 poster reviews .... we have serious doubts and can't validate those!

Staying here is such a mood booster. Professional and very friendly staffs. Such a unique villa with all the detail thoughts for the guests. Love their towel, very soft and clean.

Lunch at Ciel Brasserie a grave disappointment. Not Relais Chateaux standard. Lacks basic culinary skill. Poor service

The Check-In and Check-Out were really nice and the people at the reception really did their best to do everything for you. The people you meet along your stay such as the receptionists or the bellman were extremely nice and competent. The room was really perfect, the looks, the quality and tidiness. But you would also expect that for the price in my opinion. What I completely did not expect was the breakfast experience. I had my breakfast included in the price of my room and happily went to get some at the Ciel which is open until 10.30 am. The staff there then told me, that there is a buffet which I could choose from for free and an additional breakfast menu which cost extra. I first thought ok, maybe the buffet already is very extensive and only a few things have to be ordered extra. But it was the opposite. This probably was the smallest and simplest breakfast buffet I have ever seen at a 5 Star luxury hotel. It indeed was high quality but there was only very little choice. That means that even if you only want a simple omelette you have to pay extra... If that wasnt enough, I ordered a chai latte when I had breakfast (hot drinks are included) which then was forgotten by the staff, which can happen sometimes and I understand that. When I went back to my room I told the staff about the forgotten drink and asked them if they could at least bring it to my room as I didn't want to sit at the breakfast table any longer and they confirmed me that they would bring it to me. When I went to my room, time went by but I never had my drink brought to me. Which was quite a negative surprise in that moment. So to summarize, I can say that only at breakfast the hotel somehow does not match the rest of the beautiful house, which surprised me.

As always it was amazing. This hotel is stunning and the food is so delicious in every outlet (Ciel, Le Lys, room service). The staff is really caring and pays attention to each detail. It feels like home away from home.
