Sleeps 4 (on really nice linens)* In Dahlonega, “Napa Valley of the South,” a magical artsy town just a skip and hop north of Atlanta* Dogs welcome and loved, not just “allowed” (see The Small Print for details)* Direct river access right in front of the house — pups and people welcome to swim and play in the calm waters.* Sleek, open-concept modern design: stylish yet warm and inviting .* Beautifully decorated: classy, bright, clean, and uncluttered.* Thoughtful lighting: ambiance, dimmers, lit stairs* Central climate control system: crisp and cool in summer, toasty in winter.* Top of the line, fully equipped kitchen * Complete coffee bar with fresh grinder, frother, and every brewing method imaginable, from pour-over to pods; insulated cups * State of the art LG washer/dryer* Charming bench swing right at the river's edge* Covered side deck facing the water* Picnic table and firepit overlooking the river* Campsite-style pedestal grillThe Saddle Tree story...There are countless reasons to fall in love with Dahlonega. The picturesque town square lined with historic buildings, boutique shops, cozy cafés, and local art galleries. The brick sidewalks and preserved 1800s architecture. The warm and welcoming community. The rich history and golden legacy. Award-winning vineyards. And, of course, the breathtaking mountain landscape. Denise had been through Dahlonega a couple of times as a kid and loved it, so when she and her husband started looking for property, the hidden gem of a town made perfect sense. “We love what [Dahlonega] has to offer,” Denise says. “There is something for everyone: art, music, great restaurants, little mom n’ pop stores. We have Bear on the Square…” — an annual festival celebrating Appalachian culture, music, and art. “Plenty of outdoor adventures. You can go rent 4-wheelers at Iron Mountain” — a massive off-road adventure park — “or go to the vineyards, or take in a concert. There’s just so much.” And it’s the perfect blend of mountains and river, “...without being alone on a mountaintop,” she laughs. Having picked the perfect little town, Denise and Jess, her husband, built the perfect little cabin: a functional yet stylish, simple yet classy, not-a-detail-overlooked shotgun house. I complimented her on the minimalist architecture and decor, the sense of spaciousness, and the bright colors and textures she chose for Saddle Tree. “We are into the aesthetics of clean lines and uncluttered space — and don’t like having a bunch of stuff or walls covered,” she says. They have a great eye for design. The light surfaces and walls combine beautifully with the blonde and dark wood furniture and structural accents, the sleek lines, and not a square inch of wasted space. They didn’t waste any wood, either: all the wood used in the house, the gorgeous poplar and dark walnut shelves, chunky cross beams, railings, were salvaged from the trees that had to be felled in order to build the cabin.“I love trees,” she says, “and I don’t like cutting them down — but we had to. Using that wood in the cabin was super important to us.”The lighting, too, is important. “There needs to be a certain ambiance in our home, so all the bulbs are warm and dimmable. The stairs are subtly lit… At night it’s pure magic in here.” The longer we spoke, the clearer it became to me that Denise and Jess had well-defined ideas of the caliber of experience they wanted to provide their guests. As someone who loves to cook, she outfitted the kitchen with quality everything, and probably too much of it. “Honestly,” she confides, “Based on what most people will do in this kitchen… it’s way overstocked. But the way I see it, when people stay here, they can’t have things that are worse than what they have at home — it should even be a treat or an upgrade.”Speaking of “treats,” wait until you check out the coffee bar. Fit for a coffee snob from New York City or Seattle or Paris, it has a fresh grinder, a frother, pour-over, carafe, pod, you name it. Also: regular mugs, insulated mugs, large, small…“Sometimes I feel like we built the whole house around that coffee bar,” Denise chuckles. “But it was worth it. Sitting on that deck with my morning cup, or, better yet, on the swing over the river, listening to the water lapping at the shore… pure bliss.” Denise confesses that in addition to coffee, there are a few other things that she will pay top dollar for: “Good sunglasses, shoes, and linens.” Also, a brand new climate control system. “At Saddle Creek we want it toasty in the winter, and cool in the summer… and when you’re here, we want you to never want to get out of bed!”Between the coffee, coziness, and high thread count luxury linen, why would you want to?I ask Denise if the cabin is dog friendly.“Of course!” she says. “The warmth of an animal is what makes it a home.” She and Jess have two fur babies of their own, a German Shepherd and a cockapoo, and having their best buddies with them makes all the difference. For a moment I picture myself at sunset, gently rocking in the swing by the river, a glass of local merlot in one hand, the other on top of my dog’s shaggy head resting on my leg. Behind the hypnotizing sound of the Etowah River are the sounds of a bluegrass band, the notes carried up from town on the cool evening breeze.Pro Tips & Local WisdomWarm up at Corner Kitchen in Dahlonega with a mug of their outstanding joe in your hands.Antiquing (now no longer just for old people!) Dahlonega — which is super hip, by the way — has no fewer than three antiques stores. I’ll bet you need a lamp or a frame for your painting of dogs playing poker.North Georgia is home to some noteworthy vineyards — and Saddle Tree is minutes away from several of them, such as Wolf Mountain, Cavender Creek, and Kaya Vineyard and Winery. Enjoy a glass or bottle and spectacular mountain panoramas.Lace up your boots and bring some snacks. Georgia Mountain Falconry: 5.45km entfernt
Our Waterfall Cottage is a 2BR/2BA vacation home within sight and sound of the iconic 50 ft tall Cane Creek Falls. Large screened porch, wood-burning fireplace, WiFi and more on Cane Creek. It is located in the very unique and special location inside the security gated several hundred acre Glisson Camp and Retreat Center. There is a small enclave of privately owned cottages, which are accessible at all times. Ours is the second one downstream at the base of the falls. A large screened porch with dining table and comfortable seating area and other viewing areas will give you the sense of really being with nature as the cottage is about fifty feet from Cane Creek. Lots on either side are vacant and Falls Mountain is behind the cottage. It has two bedrooms, one with a king bed and one with a queen bed and two full baths, fireplace (operational October through March) & we supply Duraflame 3 hour logs (1 per night), free WiFi, Smart TV via Amazon Fire TV stick with YouTube TV, Netflix & Prime Video, land-line phone with unlimited USA long distance (cell service is spotty), lower covered deck with porch swing. Breakfast is not provided, but we do provide coffee and all the basic needs for cooking. There are no dishwasher or laundry facilities. We provide camp chairs for you to take to sit by the falls. We have a BBQ and provide charcoal. Cane Creek is a designated trout stream and is now open year-round, but you must have a valid Georgia license to fish. We use the Waterfall Cottage as our own get-away when not rented and thoroughly enjoy spending time there. There are hiking trails all around the camp and maps are located on signs at the welcome center and downstream of the cottage. The falls area is rich in history as a Native American gathering place with netting holes and petroglyphs etched in the rocks by the falls. It was also the site of a very early large water wheel electric generating plant. Much of the time you will find the cottage to be a very quiet and peaceful get-away. The camp does have retreats many weekends, but the main buildings and their cabins are not located near our cottage with the exception of the Program Center, which was designed after the gold mining structures of Dahlonega’s history. It is about 5 minutes from the Dahlonega Square. Some things for you to consider before renting this very special cottage: 1. Strictly limited to four people maximum including children, 2. absolutely no pets, 3. absolutely no smoking anywhere either inside the cottage or outside as the camp is tobacco free, 4. the parking area is about 90 yards from the cottage – you park and then walk toward the falls and then across the foot bridge in front of the falls and then up a path 5. two night minimum with some holidays requiring 3 niights. 6. The second bedroom has private access to the second bathroom and screened porch and there is a door between that area and the master bedroom, but access from the second bedroom to the kitchen/living room is through the master bedroom, unless you go through the screened porch, to the lower deck and up the outside steps. 7. There are about 10 private cottages along the creek inside the 400 acre Methodist owned Camp Glisson Retreat Center. In 2026 from May 24th to July 24th there are youth summer camp sessions from Sunday afternoon until Friday noon. The camp owns the falls, creek and hiking trails. We ask that guests give young campers their space while they are enjoying the outdoors during organized activities Sunday afternoon through Friday morning during summer camp. During summer camp guests can use the immediate waterfall area anytime the young campers are not there, which happens several times a day and during meal times.Guests can see the falls from the cottage and especially from the Adirondack chair area. Camp trails are closed during summer camp, but there are many hiking trails nearby and many lead to other waterfalls. Friday afternoon through Sunday morning during summer camp there are no children in camp, only the camp counselors. So, guests are welcome to use the immediate falls area. 8. We have 2 exterior security cameras aimed at the cottage door and the lower deck. There are no interior cameras. We turn the cameras on when the cottage is vacant. We sometimes turn on the cottage door camera until guests check in so we know they have arrived safely. We then turn them off.About pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.For sm kids may allow up to 3.About customRules:Camp Glisson rules: no firearms, alcohol outside of the cottage lot or smoking..About checkIn:Check in after 3:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.None inside or out.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 21.About events:No events allowed.

She and her husband, were doing a lot of the work on both houses themselves. “What started as a process of blood, sweat, and a few tears,” she admits, “quickly became a labor of love.”I tell her that the love comes through, even in photos of the absolutely adorable little A-frame cabin. She thanks me graciously. “We’re so very proud of it.”As their hometown of Ashville continued to grow, they had started looking for some peace and quiet farther south. When they found Dahlonega, with its magical combination of history, natural beauty, outdoor activities, and local culture, they knew they had found their new home. The town’s residents exude a sense of warmth and charm: “People here are some of the genuinely kindest, friendliest, and good-natured folk you can ever meet."They had done a fair bit of traveling. At first it was just the two of them and their mild-mannered spaniel-lab mix; then the baby came along. They had stayed at lots of AirBnb’s — “We’re just not hotel people” — but were frequently disappointed.“Some places claimed to be dog-friendly, or appropriate for families, but that’s not the sense we got from them.”When they started building Tiny Mansion as a rental property (and a place for visiting family to stay), they decided to create something they would have appreciated in their traveling days.“[Tiny Mansion] has water-proof flooring, a wipe-off couch, a fenced-in yard where the dog can bark to its heart’s content — and you’re in the woods, so you don’t have to shush your screaming kid, either."It’s not all about function, though, as you’ll see stepping through the front door. The cabin is the definition of minimalist, stylish, light-filled, funky comfort. From the mushroom ottoman and live edge coffee table (“The woods here are mushroom heaven!”) to the industrial-style rustic shelves and spiral staircase — they put a lot of thought and effort into form, too. The lighting is just right all over the house, and the white tile/wood/gray theme really makes this chic new build really pop. Amenities and gadgets — the gas heater on the deck, and smokeless stove in the yard — make it an even cozier escape for you and one or two other people you really like. Or love. And a furbaby. As we finish our conversation I ask her about the pine tree growing through the deck.“I’m crazy about them,” she says. “Trees, I mean. I love the shade and the smell of them. I love the woods…”When building Tiny Mansion, they took out as few trees as possible, and insisted on that old pine staying right where it was. The carpenter, a friend of theirs, built the deck around it.Whether it’s the surrounding forests in this southern Appalachian region, filled with pines and oaks and dogwoods (a beloved symbol of spring in Georgia), the friendly people, or this charming cabin that gets you here… You and yours will love and cherish your time in Dahlonega.Pro Tips & Local Wisdom:Warm up at Corner Kitchen in Dahlonega with a mug of their outstanding joe in your hands.Antiquing (now no longer just for old people!) DDawnessDas Personal ist sehr nett und freundlich, der Ort ist sauber und unterhaltsberechtigt. Die Lage ist großartig in Abhängigkeit von den Attraktionen, die wir besucht haben. Der Pool wurde geschlossen, weil es November ist. Meine Enkel & ich hatte eine wunderbare Zeit & wenn wir wieder auf diese Weise zurückkommen, würden wir sicher wieder hier bleiben.
