Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa

Booked a night at this hotel with the wife 18th Feb, as both of us worked valentine's day. Nice hotel, food was good and I'm a fussy eater. The Broccoli and stilton soup was the soup of the day, and was very tasty, 😋and I'm not a big fan of home made soup. Room was big and clean and the bed was very comfortable. I tried to book a lake view room but none available. We did get a great view of the lake half way through breakfast when the mist lifted. Would definitely book again but for longer.

Booked a one night stay as a birthday gift. We stayed in a superior lake view room, which is worth every penny. Easy to park and a seamless check-in. The room was large with a sizeable double bed; an extra heater was thrown in for good measure. The view of the lake was just.....wow! Nice bar area with a relaxed feel. The restaurant was nice, but a bit overpriced for my liking. However, there is nowhere else to eat in the vicinity, so I suppose they have got you there. The staff are lovely though and I couldn't fault them. The breakfasts are amazing and made up for the overpriced and lack lustre evening meal the night before. Would definitely recommend 👌

Great place. Clean, friendly. Staff all nice and welcoming, polite and helpful. Room was clean, warm and decent toilet paper! Food was good, tad on expensive side but worth it. Starter and mains lovely. Drinks choice really good. Thank you

The hotel is in a stunning location with fantastic views and sunsets even in Feb. The food was quite glorious-I loved the balance of nutrients, the choice and presentation. Breakfast was superb with plenty of choice and the staff, at ALL times, were courteous and helpful (even to annoying guests!) and their general happiness in their work was obvious to all. The owner was able to give us up-to-date information on the paths around the lake that were actually open after the storms and saved us a failed mission. There was filter coffee in the bedroom! 10/10! And the treatment in the spa was perfect. We took the electric car and were always able to charge it onsite. Hard to fault anything :) Thank you x

This was our third visit as a couple to Lake Vyrnwy Hotel, and we will certainly be returning again. The hotel does have an asset which is particularly hard to place in a company accounts balance sheet, but is priceless, namely the location. The views across the lake, and the surrounding countryside, are stunning. The question is, can this hotel provide a service which matches Mid-Wales at its most beautiful? Our answer is yes. The hotel is 19th Century, but has had a couple of major refurbishments. It is difficult for such an establishment to find a balance between maintaining the historical ambiance and character of the hotel, whilst providing the type of amenities 21st century visitors expect, and they succeed. Some will find the decor a little dated, but we find that it adds to the charm of the hotel. In terms of the critical areas, the hotel delivers a quality service. The food is exceptional. The tavern (serving quality ales from Shropshire brewer, Stonehouse) is well worth visiting, and particularly pleasant is the area in the bar adjacent to the restaurant, or the piano drawing room in front of roaring fires snuggled with a fine single malt. Breakfast overlooking the lake is something to be experienced and cherished. I will also make special mention of the service received, which is exceptional. All the supervisors, serving staff, bar staff, and reception staff combined to make our stay most enjoyable. We will certainly be returning.

As others have said, great views of the lake, and good food. We paid for a superior room, and the accommodation was spacious and comfortable, even though the room was a long walk from reception. Just a few niggles that prevent me from giving 5 stars. Wi-Fi signal was weak and sometimes non existent in our bedroom. Only 3 hangars in our bedroom. The Vyrnwy Cwtch offer which we paid for includes “Welsh chocolates”. I felt that one 60g bar of local chocolate was rather on the mean side. The wine is overpriced in the restaurant. The very enjoyable bottle of Sicilian red wine which we had, must have been subject to a 400% mark up on the wholesale price! I don’t understand the breakfast arrangements. Regardless of what you actually might choose to order from the breakfast menu you’re initially given a tray with orange juice , croissants, toast and small jars of fresh fruit. The effect of this seems to be to intimidate guests from ordering any cold food from the menu, such as cereals, yogurt or overnight oats. We did in fact order both cold and hot food from the breakfast menu but on both mornings found that everyone else chose to have the contents of the breakfast tray plus something hot from the menu.
