Positiv: Lage am schönen Stausee. Unser Zimmer Nr. 16 groß, sauber und gut eingerichtet, auch großes Bad. Parkplätze in verschiedenen Ebenen ausreichend vorhanden. Damit endet die Positiv-Bewertung. Negativ: Bei unserer Ankunft um 17:30 Uhr wurde uns gesagt, dass wir frühestens um 20:10 Uhr zum Dinner (offiziell von 18 -21 Uhr) kommen dürfen, weil die Essenszeiten fraktioniert eingeteilt werden. Alle vorherigen Zeiten seinen schon vergeben. Für das Frühstück (offiziell 8 Uhr bis 10 Uhr) bekamen wir einen Slot für 9:45 Uhr. Wir wollten eigentlich schon um 10 Uhr weiterreisen, das war nun aber nicht möglich. Weil meine Frau etwas gehbehindert ist, fragten wir nach einem Aufzug. Den gibt es aber in dem 3 stöckigen Hotel nicht. Wir erhielten einen ganz schlechten Tipp von der Rezeption, wie sich gleich herausstellte: Wir wurden auf einen speziellen Krankenfahrstuhl für Rollstühle am Ende des Hotels im Spa verwiesen. Wir gingen dort hin, aber er funktionierte nicht. Ein Eingriff des Personals war erforderlich. Oben im 3. Stock angekommen, mussten wir, um zu unserem Zimmer zu kommen, einen Weg von ca. 100 Metern mit vielen Stufen mehrmals auf und ab zurücklegen. Wie man diese Strecke mit einem Rollstuhl hätte schaffen sollen, bleibt ein Rätsel. Auch für uns war das viel anstrengender, als direkt die 3 Stockwerke hinaufzusteigen, was wir fortan taten.

Couples romantic night away. Pros: - 4 poster bed - we did one upgrade from standard Romantic room. Peaceful Warm hotel Nice reception and cleaning staff Lovely range of teas and hot chocolate in room Tv works Birds can be heard clearly and beautifully from our balcony Cons: Looking beaten in places Could do with a massive investment Restaurant is awful looking. Nursing home vibe. Not decadent in any way. Crappy seats and tables from the 90’s. No table cloths and standard sauces in sachets on the table. Prices are more expensive than shown on website ie. Steak 35 not 30 as advertised. Mattress in room solid as a rock Room boiling hot. No heating on yet roasting. Must be below boiler room I assume. Top tips: Get a room upgrade Plan and Be prepared to travel 20 -30 mins plus for eve meal. The restaurant is pushing their luck because there’s no where else around close by that can offer a ‘nice’ meal. Just not worth it. By 6.15 no view any ways. Black. Chinese take away 18 mins away. Strong suggestion ‘Seeds’ restaurant- only open Fri and Sat but amazing!

We went out for a special lunch in the hotel restaurant today. Unfortunately, aside from the excellent service the lovely lady from Poland and her manager provided, the food served was comparable to what you'd find in an average café. The highlight was the warm bread served with the whipped feta. However, the side salads were disappointing, featuring browning lettuce, chunks of pepper, and white onion, indicating a lack of care in preparation. The beef fajita was chewy, which I returned, but the chef seemed unconcerned about the issue. While the view is decent, it's insufficient to excuse such poor food quality. The only positive aspect was that our complaint was handled professionally, but we didn't go there expecting to complain—we were hoping for a great meal made with care and attention to standards. Is that really too much to ask?

What’s happened to this hotel? This is just our opinion. We have stopped at this hotel on numerous occasions and loved it. Sadly not this time, we always previously enjoyed the restaurant. This time the menu was bland, service slow, had to chace mains after 20 minutes of waiting. £27 for a bit of lamb with no potatoes, chips just some faffy carrot and a bit of some other stuff was not good value, if your hungry, don’t bother booking here. Waitresses ( and there was lots of them) took ages to clear plates, not a place we will return to im afraid

We stayed here for one night. We enjoyed drinking wine, looking out on the most amazing views. The food was also delicious. A massive downside to the stay was the bedroom ceiling leaking, soaking the pillow and getting dirty water onto my pillow and head. On speaking with the manager, he seemed disinterested and offered a very reluctant apology. He didn't offer anything as compensation, which I found extremely odd. We also went to the tavern the pub attached were staff members could he heard arguing and acting inappropriately. Far from the relaxing stay we'd hoped for. With this being said, most of the staff were lovely and attentive. This is a real shame as it has always been a dream of mine to stay here. I also think it's extremely rude that my complaint email was not answered. However, emails around reservations are answered almost immediately.

Fabulous stay, with breathtaking views. All of the staff are super friendly and helpful. Especially to the managers in the Tower restaurant who went above and beyond having a chat with us. The decor for me is part of the charm of the place and it’s like taking a step back in time. The walks around the lake and damn are well worth it and a great way of working up an appetite. All of the food we had during our stay was extremely tasty (breakfast, tapas and dinner) however my only one criticism is that we found the food to be delivered a little too quickly. As soon as we had finished our starters our mains were with us in 2 minutes. It didn’t take anything away from the food but it did mean our 3 course meal was over in 50 minutes and when you have little else to do it would have been nice to sit and enjoy the meal a little longer. This took nothing away from our amazing stay and we will be back very soon.

Booked a night at this hotel with the wife 18th Feb, as both of us worked valentine's day. Nice hotel, food was good and I'm a fussy eater. The Broccoli and stilton soup was the soup of the day, and was very tasty, 😋and I'm not a big fan of home made soup. Room was big and clean and the bed was very comfortable. I tried to book a lake view room but none available. We did get a great view of the lake half way through breakfast when the mist lifted. Would definitely book again but for longer.

Booked a one night stay as a birthday gift. We stayed in a superior lake view room, which is worth every penny. Easy to park and a seamless check-in. The room was large with a sizeable double bed; an extra heater was thrown in for good measure. The view of the lake was just.....wow! Nice bar area with a relaxed feel. The restaurant was nice, but a bit overpriced for my liking. However, there is nowhere else to eat in the vicinity, so I suppose they have got you there. The staff are lovely though and I couldn't fault them. The breakfasts are amazing and made up for the overpriced and lack lustre evening meal the night before. Would definitely recommend 👌

A beautiful hotel that has the character and charm with modern facilities. Firstly the staff were all amazing, they couldn’t have been more helpful. We were in room 8, the suite, and it was a beautiful room. Spilt with a lounge and a separate master room, my son had a lovely double bed in the lounge area. The views were outstanding across the lake from each room. Master was beautiful, four poster bed and very comfy although the mattress could do with an upgrade. My only gripe is the shower which was very small. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. It’s worth getting the package of dinner and breakfast as there is nowhere else to eat in the evening unless you are willing to drive 15 minutes or so. The food at the hotel was very good and plentiful, with excellent views across the lake. There are plenty of walks around the lake which are within walking distance, however a car to drive to some areas would be beneficial. Jist ring the hotel and ask about walks, they are very knowledgeable. This is our second stay here and we would stay again. Thanks again to the wonderful staff at this hotel that make it the most amazing place to stay.
