The Lake Country House Hotel & Spa

Just returned from a relaxing two nights in this lovely, peaceful hotel. It’s set in beautiful grounds which we enjoyed walking around. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and we had a delicious evening meal. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, a credit to the hotel.

I booked this hotel at the last minute. My niece had already stayed here and had a great time. Along the drive, you see the grounds and they are absolutely beautiful. The hotel is lovely, a touch old fashioned, but that's not a negative. I arrived too early for check in, so the receptionist recommended I could go down to the separate spa area for a swim. The grounds are so pleasant to walk through, the building where the swimming pool is, is down by the lake. I had a lovely swim and the whirl pool with lake views was amazing. After my swim, I went back to the hotel to check in. I was met by a different receptionist, he took my bag and showed me to my room. I was in Pumphouse at the front of the hotel. I didn't expect such a lovely room. It had a living area, bedroom and a nice size bathroom. Again, the furniture is a little old fashioned, but not shabby. The bed was perfectly made by the housekeeping staff, not a crease in sight. it was absolutely amazing bed to sleep in. I had dinner, bed and breakfast. My dinner was at 6.30 pm. The plan is to go to the lounge, have canapés, have a drink and order your dinner. Then when it's ready, they take you to the restaurant. It's a 4 course menu. It's £50 if you book before you go, or £60 when you're there. All the staff are absolutely lovely and the service you get was first class, like the food. After dinner, I was shown back to the lounge with my latte and petit fours, overlooking the stunning scenery. The breakfast was a great spread. There was everything you could want. I saw laverbread on the menu, which I had to have, but it wasn't laverbread as I know it, it was dry like stuffing, disappointing. I booked to use the spa before I arrived. There's lots of choice. I chose the mini spa morning that included 30 minutes treatment, use the facilities and lunch, either in the hotel or at the spa. After my breakfast, I walked to the spa, the receptionist checked me in and gave me a robe, mules and a towel. I was taken to the spa where I had a back massage, which was absolutely gorgeous, but far too short. After that I relaxed by the pool and went in the swimming pool, which is a lovely pool and not too deep. After the spa, I went back to the hotel for my lunch. There is quite a lot of choice of sandwiches or afternoon tea, I chose coronation chicken. While I was waiting, the owner came over as I was asking about the history of the hotel. I was given a pack which showed what it was like before it was a hotel, which was fascinating. I would definitely stay again. The staff are so friendly and will do anything for you. The food was really good and the scenery is stunning.

Fabulous stay at the Lake House - rooms very comfortable and roomy. Highlight of the stay was the amazing grounds, superb staff, and wonderful food. Couldn’t fault it !

I and six friends came for afternoon tea. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the owner even came to say hello. Afterwards we had a stroll around the lake, then sat on the patio for a drink. The setting was gorgeous. We were lucky with ghd weather and the setting was beautiful. Altogether a fabulous experience and I can't wait to come again sometime.

This was my fifth visit in 15 months and I think this speaks volumes about how I rate my experience at Lake Country House. The warmth of the welcome and relaxed atmosphere is like a big hug when you walk in. The staff team is stable and they remember guests preferences and try their utmost to accommodate them. The food is superb, the bedding and eds are of high quality and the entire place is furnished with guest comfort in mind. The spa is such a bonus and the view from the hot tub is gorgeous. I love it and highly recommend it to all.

Lovely relaxing couple of days to celebrate our 30 the wedding anniversary. The hotel is lovely , beautiful grounds by the lake , staff are all amazing , food excellent, they should have a Michelin Star 🌟 Our room was lovely , we stayed in River, nice full size toiletries to use in you’re room , clean white towels , kettle etc . Breakfast was great , lots of choice , and very nice 👍 The evening meals were delicious, as I said earlier they should have a Michelin star . The staff , Hannah , Laura , Adam , Liam , Zoe & Leah were all amazing , also the other lady who served us breakfast , but we didn’t catch her name . The owner was also a lovely gentleman , we had a nice chat to him . We also used the spa , had a lovely massage , and used the hot tub , sauna & steam room . Everything was as very clean & today in the hotel & spa . We will definitely be coming back to this hotel , as we enjoyed every minute of our stay .

The Lake Country House and Spa is a traditional country house retreat set in an area of rural beauty in Mid Wales near Builth Wells. The extensive grounds have a river flowing along the edge and a waterfall amongst the shrubbery. There is an ora of tranquility, which is enhanced in the spa. In some respects the set up is very old fashioned, and in parts dated, but this adds to the experience. It is so different to the chain hotel idea of luxury. It feels genuine and welcoming. Reception was warmed by a log fire. There was information for local tourist attractions and details of walks from the hotel. The spa is in the grounds of the hotel with a view of the small lake and water birds from the hot tub. The small cafe area shares this view. The pool is large enough for lap swimming. There are loungers by the pool, which was the only negative. They were uncomfortable. There is a steam room and sauna. Towels, slippers and gowns are provided, but gowns were also in the room. There are a range of spa treatments on offer in the quiet wooden treatment rooms. Price list available. Bedrooms are in the main building or nearby lodge building. We have stayed in both. All rooms are large with seating areas. The large bathroom had the soft towels and quality toiletries expected at this price point. Plenty of hot water. Everything clean. Comfortable large bed. Kettle with coffee sachets and a choice of teas. We didn't turn on the TV. Some rooms are classed as accessible, but many rooms are reached by steep stairs in the main building. Staff were keen to help carry the bags. Staff in all areas were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Dinner was excellent. Good food and service. No rushing. Pre dinner drinks with canapés by the log fire in the lounge area started the evening off well. There is a long wine list, including a choice of house wines by the glass. Breakfast is served in the airy conservatory with views to the grounds and the hills beyond. A choice of hot breakfast items were cooked to order and served at the table with juices, fruits, pastries, yoghurt, cereal etc available on the buffet. Freshly-made tea and coffee were served at the table. The drive to Lake Country House takes one through beautiful Welsh countryside, but some sat nav routes will bring one over the Epynt Ranges where there may rarely be road closures. There are sign posts to the hotel on closely roads. Llangammarch Wells railway station is walking distance from the hotel. There is adequate parking in the grounds. Within our budget considerations, this is a hotel for a special occasion. It felt special and money well spent. Excellent customer service, which we have not experienced for a very long time despite extensive travelling.We may well return for our next special anniversary.

Myself and two friends visited the hotel as a celebration of 50 years of friendship I had read a very disparaging review and was shocked as it had nothing good to say at all I can only say that my experience was completely the opposite and I am not a friend or family member of the owners Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who delivered with natural willingness and professionalism The rooms grounds and spa were spectacular and food delicious with good quality ingredients I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and it was perfect for our special celebration Thankyou

Super relaxing break. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The room was cosy, quiet and clean. As a vegan I was very impressed with the efforts made to accommodate our needs, the food was superb - nothing was too much trouble. Even sausages for our two dogs. Thank you to everyone at the Lake Country House Hotel for a wonderful break.
