St Johns House Lichfield

Very easy to book, lovely historic building to stay in with all the trimmings you need to be comfortable and the luxury breakfast is exactly what it says it is, would highly recommend if anyone is doing or needs to stay in and around the area, the staff are really good too

Has the potential to be great but better customer service needed. It started with a voicemail at 5:45pm on the day of arrival. I was driving and the voicemail basically said they were calling about my reservation but left no number to call back or any detail as to why they were calling… hence one very panicked person on a busy motorway with no idea what was wrong with my reservation. They were actually calling to make sure I was arriving ahead of 8pm. Reception closes at 8pm. I was aware of this and was due to arrive well in time arriving at 6:15pm. The call was unnecessary or if they had to “chase” me at least state on the voicemail why they were calling! I was put in a nicer room as I hadn’t appreciated the room I booked had a separate bathroom. I was ok with this but they changed my room anyhow. The new room had a lovely bath in the bedroom - however had no freestanding shower - not ideal when attempting to get out early for a business meeting. Also the tv did not work. I tried multiple times to turn it on, even wandering the hotel in search of spare batteries in case it was the remote - with no luck. Reception by this time was closed and the only information on view in the room was the WiFi code and fire alarm instructions. On arriving I was not informed of anyway to get help if there were any issues. I did not see a guest relations book in the room - admittedly I did not go searching for it! The focus had been so much on the 8pm cutoff I assumed at this stage I was on my own! At check out I mentioned the tv - not to whinge at all, but purely someone else might be more frustrated than I was. The response I received took me aback. The master switch was probably off. How was I to know this? I should have called them and they would have helped. At this stage I pointed out no one provided me with any information as to how to contact them. In fact my whole experience had been the opposite with the fact from 8pm there is no one to help!! Including being provided with a front door key to get back in. She persisted I should have called or gone searching for a phone number - coming across that it was my fault!! Wow! Also I was female solo traveller and the lights in the hallway don’t go on until you are stood what felt like underneath them - tweaks to sensors are needed. I left feeling like a total inconvenience to them. The place has so much potential but the reception staff customer service is seriously lacking. Accept for breakfast- the waiter was lovely and the bacon sandwich delicious!

St. John’s House in Lichfield is a beautifully restored property offering a nice boutique Bed and Breakfast. If you’re in Lichfield, this is the nicest place to stay. Spotlessly clean, the rooms are big and comfortable. Every room has a Nespresso maker and the milk frother and the refrigerator has fresh milk and water. A full English breakfast is included and everything is made fresh to order. Walking distance to the city center, there are plenty of pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. Lichfield Cathedral and City Train Station are a 5 minute walk away.

A small and intimate hotel with helpful, friendly staff and lovely rooms, each with their own personality. The beautiful old building has been very sympathetically restored, retaining many of its original features. Breakfast was amazing - and capped off a lovely stay. Discreet and private - especially in the separate stable block - this a great choice.

A lovely building, thoughtfully renovated. We had a large bedroom, comfy bed and breakfast was excellent. Only small complaint would be the speed of service at breakfast. This wasn't an issue for us but could be if you're on a schedule. That said the food was freshly cooked and worth the wait.

We were in the smallest room ( Peake rm) as only an overnight stay.Was perfect in every way.Spotlessly clean with a coffee machine, cookies, water and milk in the fridge plus a little jar of sherbet lemons( what a treat!) Fluffy towels , pristine bathroom. Bed was super comfy. I cant fault anything.
